Firm Overview

I focus on insurance law on behalf of homeowners, small businesses, and other insureds, as well as resolving real estate and business disputes.

Example cases

I represented 66 tenants against a landlord who failed to maintain his apartment building. There was mold, as well as roof and plumbing leaks, electrical problems, and structural issues with the building. There were also a variety of complex insurance issues.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

After representing insurance companies, I realized that homeowners and other policy holders were in need of effective advocacy.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

In the right case, clients are better off representing themselves. In complex matters that must be filed in Superior Court, self-representation is not the best choice for most clients.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am always willing to review documents that clients intend to present in Small Claims Court or other proceedings in which they represent themselves.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

One of the most important things that attorneys can do for clients is to teach them what they need to know to be effective advocates on their behalf.

Neil R. Anapol

Before starting my firm in 1999, I was an associate with Shernoff, Bidart & Darras, a firm that specialized in insurance bad-faith cases.

After law school, I spent two years clerking for a judge, so I have a good sense of how the courts work and what it takes to persuade a judge of my clients' positions.

I have an in-depth understanding of insurance law, I am a skilled negotiator, and I am an excellent writer.

I pay a lot of attention to detail while keeping the overall objectives of my client in mind. I also work hard to get cases into a position where they can be settled. But when I cannot settle the case, I work even harder to win at trial.

Personal interests:

I enjoy hiking, music, fitness, and travel.
