Estate Planning
Assisting Florida families with practice & effective Estate and Special Needs Planning solutions to protect their loved ones.
Although a lawyer since 1995, Kristen Marks started My Pink Lawyer in 2008 to assist Florida women and their families with the often confusing legal process of estate planning. Unfortunately, less than 40% of all Americans have any written estate plans in place to protect their loved ones when the inevitable happens. And let's face it, none of us has a crystal ball on when that written planning will become necessary. Every adult, no matter your family circumstances, economic situation or demographics, should have a written plan in place to not only protect your desires in case you become incapacitated (after all, who do YOU want making medical decisions for you if you can't make them for yourself?) but also to help protect your loved ones (which may include persons other than your actual family) in the event of your death or disability.

Some of the things that set My Pink Lawyer apart:

1. Flat fees. All fees are quoted in advance so there are no surprise bills in the mail.
2. No initial consultation fees and no obligation.
3. Practical, effective approach to your planning based on your desires. Once we know what you are trying to accomplish, we will recommend the most practical solution without trying to 'sell' you a one-size-fits-all estate plan.
4. All plans are prepared by My Pink Lawyer herself, not farmed out to some paralegal or assistant without a law degree.
5. Personal touch. We do return phone calls and emails to our office and no question is too 'silly'!
6. We give back. My Pink Lawyer is active in her community and gives back a portion of all proceeds to non-profits for each qualified estate and special needs plan.

Is your firm willing to help a client with one discrete part of a case, without taking on the whole case?

What are your policies about dividing work within the firm to make the process most cost-effective for the client?

How frequently does your firm use mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law to resolve cases?

N/A as we do not handle contested matters.

Does your firm provide pro bono legal services or otherwise participate in your community?

Yes on our own. We also work with clients if needed on their fees under certain circumstances.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

Free initial consultations. Everything done on a flat-fee which is quoted at the initial consultation. All documents and planning is customized to meet each client's particular needs and all planning is done by the attorney and not a paralegal or legal assistant. We donate a portion of all firm proceeds to local and global charities that support and empower women.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Important but also to recognize that sometimes you just can't get all of the information you need for your particular circumstances on the internet or that you might read incorrect information on the internet. That's why it's always best to meet with an expert in the estate planning field so you know you are getting trusted advice for your particular situation.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Yes, we will review documents prepared by other licensed attorneys but discourage the use or review or DIY (do-it-yourself), fill in the blank documents.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Yes but we may need to charge a consultation fee in such cases.
