How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

Mountain West Disability was founded by attorney Ronald Kramer. Ron had already been running a successful personal injury firm and found he loved helping people in difficult circumstances get the help they needed. This is why he decided to start a disability firm so he could further help the community.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

Unlike other disability firms, our office really tries to focus on the client. Rather than being handed off from case manager to case manager our clients are assigned to a single capable case manager who will be with them from A to Z. From our attorneys to our case managers everyone in our office has several years of experience working in the Social Security Disability field.

Ronald Kramer

At the very start of his legal career in 1997, Ron Kramer made a personal commitment to provide the best service possible to his clients, his profession, and his community. Over the years, his dedication has not wavered.

A California native, Kramer came to Utah to attend Brigham Young University, where he received a B.A. in international relations in 1992. He returned to his home state to attend law school, getting his J.D. at the University of the Pacific's McGeorge School of Law in 1996. He and his wife had two young children at the time, and decided that they wanted to raise them in Utah, so he made the decision to move back and joined Sykes & Associates, a plaintiffs' personal injury firm in Salt Lake City.

After three years of dealing with the commute from his home in Draper, Kramer decided that he wanted to practice law closer to home. He opened the Kramer Law Group in 2004, with its primary office in West Jordan, and he's been growing his personal injury law practice in the area ever since.

While Ron has loved building his reputation has a personal injury attorney, his desire to help all those in need inspired him to start Mountain West Disability in February 2013.

"It's satisfying getting results for our clients and being able to help clients get the medical treatment they need," he says. "It's also satisfying being able to build our reputation, and very satisfying to do good in the community."

Clearly, this leaves little time for personal interests, but Kramer enjoys spending time with his family, which now includes six children. He also enjoys outdoor activities, particularly mountain biking and road biking.

Matt Ormsby

Matt Ormsby was born and raised in Clearfield Utah. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Utah State University in Logan, Utah where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems Management and a minor in International Business. While studying at USU he worked as the Director of the USU Special Olympics Team, an organization that provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in Olympic-type sports for people with intellectual disabilities.

After graduating from USU he attended law school, getting his J.D. at the University of Virginia. Not only was Matt busy working as the executive editor of the Virginia Tax Review, but was acclimating to his role as a father since having his first child with his wife Jamie.

Having been born and raised in Utah, after graduating from the University of Virginia, Matt and his wife were eager to return home. Upon his return, he worked for a year as a clerk at the Utah State Third District Court before opening his own practice in August 2009. For five years Matt worked primarily with bankruptcy and estate planning cases before deciding to make the change to disability law.

"With this type of law, you help people with an immediate need, and you get to see the immediate results of your efforts."

When Matt is not busy helping our clients receive the benefits they deserve, he is spending time with his wife and four children reading, skiing, mountain biking, and hiking.
