Firm Overview

Morgan Law Group is a family-focused estate planning law firm dedicated to helping Orange County residents place a fortress of legal and financial protection around their children and the people they love the most.

The firm was started in 2005 by attorney Darlynn Morgan shortly after losing her husband to cancer while in his 30's. Falsely believing she was too young to plan, Darlynn learned the hard way why every adult (especially those with minor children!), should have some form of estate planning in place so that their family is properly protected should the unthinkable happen.

Focusing on the areas of wills, trusts, estates, guardianship, asset protection and special needs planning, today Darlynn and her associates at Morgan Law Group help parents create great plans to ensure their kids are protected now, and always.

You may also recognize Darlynn's straight-forward and easy to understand legal advice from her appearances in Forbes, LifetimeTV.com, LA Parent Magazine, OC Family, OC Metro, Forbes.com, Caring.com and Parenting OC Magazine, as she strives to help families understand complicated legal issues in plain English so they can make the very best decisions for themselves and their loved ones.

Probate
Morgan Law Group is experienced at administering estates, trusts, wills, probate and more. We work with the family and other advisors to transfer assets as quickly as possible, resolve issues, and ensure that all legal requirements are satisfied.
As we know from personal experience, dealing with the death of a loved one can be traumatic. And every family faces its own unique set of challenges. With many emotions, it is difficult to think clearly. Often, it's hard to know where to start.

In the midst of the emotional turmoil, there are many legal and financial details that must be handled. Instead of attempting to navigate these requirements on your own, this is a time to reach out for assistance. More than ever, you need a lawyer that you are comfortable with and who will come alongside you to ease the stress and confusion and navigate all of the requirements with you.

Morgan Law Group is experienced at administering estates, trusts, wills, probate and more. We work with the family and other advisors to transfer assets as quickly as possible, resolve outstanding issues, and ensure that all legal requirements are satisfied within the legal deadlines.

Attorney Darlynn Morgan has been practicing law in southern California for over 16 years. She started Morgan Law Group in July, 2005 because she saw a need; and she saw that her unique story and talents could be used to make a difference in the lives of her clients.

Choose the Right Attorney

The one essential thing you can do to ensure your probate is done right is to choose your attorney wisely.

Do not assume that all attorneys are the same - Too many lawyers only “dabble” in probate or trusts. Don't choose a lawyer who does probate as a sideline because these lawyers often blunder causing real problems for their client and their cases often take longer than those handled by experienced probate lawyers.

You don’t have to use the attorney who prepared the Will – just because a particular attorney prepared the Will, this does not mean that attorney must handle the probate, nor are they necessarily the right person for the job. You need to be comfortable with the attorney and confident that they are the right attorney for you.

Choosing your probate or trust lawyer is one of the most important decisions you will make. If you put in the time and effort to find the right lawyer, you will be rewarded with a skillful guide who will help you navigate the probate process.

Planning for Everyone You Love and Everything You Have

Do you know what would happen legally- to you, your loved ones, your money – if something unexpected happened to you?

Even if you don’t have an estate plan the state of California has a plan for you

Do you know what the people you love would have to deal with if something unexpected happen to you? If you don’t know, then the first step is to find out exactly what would happen, legally and financially, so that you can decide if the current state of your affairs is okay with you.

To do this, we conduct a Family Wealth Planning Session, where we spend time together and you’ll get informed. Before your Family Wealth Planning Session, you will complete a Family Wealth Inventory and Assessment, which will help you to get clear about what you own and what you have to think about when it comes to planning for the well-being and care of your loved ones and loved belongings.

If you decide the current state of affairs is unacceptable, and if we both decide that it’s a fit to work together, then we can design an estate plan together that will best suit the needs of your family.

The foundation of your estate plan will often include a revocable living trust is that; you transfer your property into this trust for your benefit during your life. One of the benefits of a revocable living trust is that when done correctly and maintained over time, your estate plan should help your family to avoid the cost and delay of probate and minimize or eliminate estate taxes.

For people with additional needs, we provide advanced estate planning services.

Unfortunately, most plans don't work because much of what passes for estate planning is little more than word processing. You are asked a few questions and then the drafter decides which "plan" is right for you, and fits you into a template. This is not estate planning; it is little more than a “search and replace” of your family’s name and then a hit of the “print” button which spits out form documents.

Your Personal Family Lawyer at Morgan Law Group will educate you, take the time to get to know you, your family, your concerns, your goals and your issues and will gladly and patiently answer all your questions to produce an estate plan that is exactly right for you.ll help you navigate the probate process.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

For Darlynn Morgan, estate planning is about more than death and taxes; it'about helping families fully protect their assets, wishes and the people they care about most through all of life's transitions.

She founded Morgan Law Group after experiencing firsthand the devastation of a documents only or a one-size-fits all estate plan following the death of a loved one. Her mission is to help others avoid the same nightmare by creating solid plans that are uniquely tailored to meet their changing family and business needs.

What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others

The focus at Morgan Law Group is serving people who want to make certain that their will, trust and incapacity
planning will actually work when their family needs them the most and that they won't have to pay unnecessary fees to the government; people who are busy, love their kids (and grandkids!), and want to leave the world a better place.

As a mother, wife and small business owner herself, Morgan understands the sensitive needs of her clients, and how to approach tough conversations that are critical to having a worry-free tomorrow. This includes helping parents make sure their family wealth is protected and their kids will be raised by the people they want if tragedy strikes, as well as helping professionals safeguard their assets and wishes should death or incapacity occur.

Morgan Law Group also works with executors to help navigate the complicated world of Probate and further
assists successor trustees in making sure every legal and financial detail is handled following the death of a loved one.

Darlynn is a sought-after speaker in the Orange County area, and her straightforward and easy-to-understand legal advice has been featured on Forbes.com, Lifetime TV, OC Register and The Daily Pilot.
