How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

For Elder Law, I chose this area as it is more of an all-around area of law involving not only legal advice but also addresses emotional needs of clients and family members.

For Small Business law, I chose this area because I have practical experience as a former business owner in other industries.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I'm all for it. Not only does it help the clients, themselves, it helps me with assessing what is best for the clients and aids in the communication process.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Very willing and currently do it all the time.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Very willing and currently do it all the time.

Mary Ann Tardiff

• Former Commissioner California Board of Parole Hearing (Governor Appointee)
• Former State Appointed Attorney, Board of Parole Hearings
• Former State Appointed Attorney, Department Mental Health
• Former State Appointed Attorney, Mentally Disordered Offenders

I worked for a number of years before I went to law school. I was involved with production control and was a purchasing agent. While in college, I helped my parents run a family-owned motel business and worked at a local Air Force Base in housing during summer breaks. I also helped run a family-owned restaurant business while in law school.

LIFE EXPERIENCES: I took care of my elderly mother and went through the dying process with my mother, father and brother which helped to give me a better understanding for elder/senior law.

Friendly and down to earth. I set timelines and keep them, unless an emergency arises.

Personal interests:

Gardening, raise exotic birds, bird watching, making my dog happy, riding in my convertible sports car, reading mysteries and history books, and being involved with my community.
