Markusson, Green & Jarvis was established in 1984 under a predecessor firm name and was re-established under its present name in 1996.

MGJ is the approved panel defense counsel for many insurance carriers. We work closely with clients and their insurance carriers to provide cost-effective litigation-support solutions that are successful and practical. We work with claim handlers to develop early litigation plans and budgets to ensure highly effective representation and client satisfaction. We strive to create long-lasting client relationships and build trust with those whom we represent.

MGJ handles significant litigation in Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah. We also have appeared in numerous U.S. District Courts and U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal, as well as in the United States Court of Federal Claims.

Our attorneys' backgrounds are diverse, with many firm members maintaining an active trial practice in multiple jurisdictions. Our founding partners are the former in-house counsel for a Fortune 500 corporation.
They have handled most every type of commercial dispute in their careers. Our experience includes working with business owners, executives, and in-house counsel representing businesses in disputes over money and property in lawsuits for:

Breach of Contract: Mergers and acquisitions, purchases and sales of securities, transactions in real estate and other business assets and agreements to provide goods or services.

Interference with Contract: A third party's hindering or preventing performance of an agreement.

Dennis Markusson

Dennis Markusson is a founding partner of Markusson Green & Jarvis. He served as national counsel for a national corporation for the defense of that company's asbestos litigation until 2014. He continues to works with clients on asbestos issues, litigation and factors affecting insurance coverage, including reinsurance. Dennis practices in the areas of products liability, toxic torts, commercial litigation, contract law, and construction defect/contractor liability as well. Additionally, he serves as an asbestos expert witness.

Firm Service/History

Prior to joining MGJ, Dennis directed Johns Manville Corporation's asbestos litigation group. He was responsible for the direction and coordination of Johns Manville's asbestos litigation throughout the United States. He served as Assistant General Counsel and Vice President of Johns Manville Sales Corporation. Additionally, he was responsible for the company's litigation within the Unites States OSHA-related matters, and was one of Johns Manville's lead counsel in its Chapter 11 re-organization.

Before founding MGJ, Dennis was a partner in the Akron, Ohio firm of Weick & Genovese, and he served as assistant counsel to General Tire & Rubber CO.

Dennis founded MGJ in 1984 with his partners Keith Jarvis and James Green.

Professional Activities

Dennis is licensed to practice law in Colorado and Ohio, as well as the United States District Court for the District of Colorado and for the Northern District of Ohio, United States Sixth, Ninth and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeal, and the United States Claims Court.

His professional affiliations also include the American Bar Association Litigation and Tort and Insurance Sections, the Colorado Bar Association, the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association (CDLA), the Defense Research Institute (DRI), the Denver Bar Association and the International Association of Defense Counsel and IADC's Toxic Torts Committee.
