Lutz Law Offices is a solo practice law firm. David Lutz is the founder and owner. He is assisted by two, experienced family law paralegals. The law firm primarily represents clients with family law matters in Pierce County; however, Mr. Lutz also practices in King, Thurston and Kitsap counties. Family law includes divorce or dissolution of marriage; custody and child visitation; child suppport; alimony or spousal maintenance; and civil domestic violence protection orders. The firm has utilized its current location since 1997. Free parking is available and there is easy access from the the freeway.

Divorce
The firm's practice ares is approximately fifty-percent divorce, legal separation or dissolution of marriage cases.
In Washington there is no fault when obtaining a divorce. There is a minimum waiting period of 90-days before the court will dissolve a marriage. The court may order one party to pay some of the attorney's fees of the other party. When minor children are involved, the court will enter custody and child support orders. In all divorce cases the court will divide property and debt, decide whether to order alimony, protection orders or restraining orders. The parties may have their names changed as part of the divorce process.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

Before becoming an attorney, David Lutz's life was significantly affected by a family law judge. While attending law school, he served as a legal intern at a respected family law firm. Realizing the great need for mature family law attorneys, Mr. Lutz chose to work in the area of family law to help clients during what is usually a stressful period.

What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others

David Lutz served in the United States Navy for over eight years including deployments overseas and extensive training in the nuclear power field. He obtained a bachelor of science degree in business from the University of the State of New York. He graduate with "cum laude" honors from Seattle University School of Law in 1996. He has consulted with over 8,000 individuals during his practice that began in 1997. He has been the lead attorney for trials involving all issues of family law: property and debt division, alimony or spousal maintenance, custody, visitation, child support and domestic violence.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

This firm offers not only the services of an experience family law attorney but two experienced family law paralegals. Diane Hickman has over thirty years experience working for law firms in Pierce county. Shenoah Bourn obtained a bachelor degree in Criminal Justice from Central Washington University and has served as a family law paralegal for approximately five years. The firm has a reputation for excellent communication with its clients and is committed to helping each client understand the legal process and make informed decisions about his or her case.

C. David Lutz

C. David Lutz was born in Charlotte, N.C. in 1960. In 1979 he graduated from East Mecklenburg High School and then attended Brigham Young University. From 1980 until 1982 he served in Hong Kong as a missionary where he became fluent in Cantonese. Upon completion of his missionary work, Mr. Lutz graduated from The University of the State of New York with a bachelor of science degree in business. He served eight years in the United States Navy as a nuclear propulsion plant operator. After graduating with honors from Seattle University School of Law in 1996, Mr. Lutz practiced and continues to practice primarily as a family law attorney in Pierce County Superior Court.
