Johnathon P. Hardaway III, Managing Partner

Johnathon P. Hardaway III is the Managing Partner of Lord & Hardaway LLP. Mr. Hardaway is a well-rounded lawyer. A corporate attorney with an MBA, a certified sports agent, and a battle tested litigator.

Mr. Hardaway has extensive trial and litigation experience, defending and prosecuting complex civil matters involving health care, professional negligence, shareholder and partnership disputes. Mr. Hardaway represents a roster of professional athletes, government officials, and celebrities and is adept at resolving sensitive matters both in and out of the courtroom. His criminal and regulatory work includes defending individuals and corporations in a broad range of matters including embezzlement, wrongful termination, civil rights, employment discrimination and sexual harassment litigation, and insurance and bank fraud.

Before joining Lord & Hardaway LLP, Mr. Hardaway worked for several years as an attorney at the law firm Williams & Connolly LLP. Mr. Hardaway has taught as an adjunct professor at law schools including Howard University School of Law and the University of District of Columbia School of Law.

- Successful matters and verdicts in jury and bench trials in many federal, state, provincial and territorial court levels up to and including several U.S. and Canadian trial and appellant jurisdictions.

- Counseled NFL LB Josh McNary during rape, criminal confinement and battery; not guilty verdict.

- Member of trial team that obtained dismissal for three players in the Duke Lacrosse false rape case.

- Counseling government officials including Alaskan Senator Ted Stevens and US Vice President Dick Cheney.

- Counseling corporate executives including NYSE CEO Richard Grasso and other C-level clients.

- Advising NBA players like Tim Duncan, Grant Hill, and Ray Allen and Rickie Weeks, MLB 2003 2nd overall draft pick, during contract negotiations.

- Representing professional football player clients including marquee, veteran players, and more than one half dozen 1st round draft picks.

- Representing professional sports team front office staff including General Managers.

- A successful dismissal before trial for a professional athlete charged with attempting to bring a controlled substance onto a plane and possession of a controlled substance.

- A successful dismissal before trial for a professional athlete charged with two counts of sexual assault.

- A successful dismissal before trial for a professional athlete charged with one count of assault and one count of criminal threat.
