I like my area of practice because it is analytical and yet practical. My practice area provides a positive to society and the economy in general and as a whole. When people invent new devices, or offer services, or contribute to society, jobs and economic growth are involved, and I am proud to be a part of it.
It is always beneficial for a client to educate themselves on their legal issues. It is preferable to work with a client that has a background in a matter. The goal of the attorney is help solve the client's problem, therefore, the client should not attempt to replace the attorney, but inform themselves as to the information, process, and deliberations to help understand the process.
We are willing to review a client's documents. The client must understand there is a difference between reviewing a document and drafting a document. We are not a firm where one size fits all; when we do draft documents they are tailored to the client's needs and objectives. Therefore, no one License Agreement or Confidentiality Agreement fits all situations, and the first objective is to understand the client's goal.
In depends in what respect the client is desiring to represent themselves. Since we represent clients in front of the US Patent and Trademark Office as well as many Federal Courts, this is not a typical activity for our firm.
As partner at Levenfeld Pearlstein, I started and headed up the Intellectual Property Practice of the firm.
Before I went to law school, I helped run a business, and I participated in a number of projects, and avocations. Having been involved in a business operation has provided me with a background that is able to provide practical legal advice as opposed to legal constructions
My strengths are the ability to analyze the problem and determine a strategy to achieve or accomplish the goal. I am a person who speaks directly regarding the situation. If I disagree, I will say so (almost always kindly). I work hard, and get results.Personal interests:
I am a big baseball fan. I have three boys, so my activities are primarily related and directed to their interests. I also like movies and books.
