How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

Again, because I am an immigrant myself. This area of law is extremely important because it drastically impacts each person's personal life. Also immigration law is now more complicated than even tax law, and so it is important for clients to find an attorney that has many years of experience, because even a few years of experience will not be sufficient to expose the attorney to all of the USCIS procedures. Knowing complicated immigration law and regulations is one thing, but just as important, a good immigration attorney must know how each USCIS office handles specific cases. Each USCIS office does not handle the same case the same way. Each office has their own preferences, applications of law, etc., and an experienced immigration attorney can help the client to know how his or her case will be treated by a specific USCIS office (whether Texas, Vermont, California or one of the local offices).

For this reason, I love my job more and more every day. I see that my experience is important and very beneficial to clients.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

We love clients that are educated, as this allows them to ask detailed questions and therefore have a good understanding of their own case. Our office always explains the chances of success for each case during the initial consultation. We NEVER accept cases that have more than a 50% chance of failing.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

We review documents prepared by clients and we also provide a detailed list of documents needed from the client specific to his or her case, so that they will have the highest chance of success possible.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

We do not coach clients who want to represent themselves because USCIS officers treat clients who have attorneys versus ones whose rights are not being represented differently. Therefore, we cannot provide advice, as the USCIS officer will treat unrepresented clients differently from ones with lawyers present with them or who have filed documents through an attorney's office.

Lena Korial-Yonan, Esq.

Senior Attorney and U.S. immigration lawyer at Lena Korial-Yonan, PA since January 2001.

I am an immigrant myself, so I understand and have compassion for people who want to legalize themselves.

My strength lies in my almost ten years of experience in the same position as a hands-on immigration lawyer. Also I am VERY persistent and I do not stop until the case is completed perfectly and every detail is planned out and handled appropriately. I understand that immigration law is all about the details and which documents to provide, etc.

Personal interests:

I am a mother and my daughter's name is Isabela. I love spending time with her. I also enjoy spending time with my other family members and friends. I also love to read and go to coffee shops.
