Child Custody
Child Custody, Child Support, Move-Away (Parental Relocation) Cases, Parental Alienation, Domestic Violence
The Law Offices of Justin Kirk Tabayoyon understands your children are the most important thing in your life.

When parents cannot agree on issues of custody and visitation, the level of conflict and disagreement can be very high. In situations where one parent is unreasonable, physically abusive, dangerous, addicted to substances, seeks to move-away, or seeks to outright alienate the other parent from a child through psychological abuse or false allegations, custody and visitation cases can become very complex.

It is important that you retain an attorney who is familiar with and knows how to handle these types of cases. The Law Offices of Justin Kirk Tabayoyon will first attempt to negotiate reasonable agreements with the other parent or their counsel. If that is not possible, we will aggressively, zealously, and fiercely advocate on your behalf.

Divorce, Spousal Support, qualified domestic relations orders (QDRO), retirement accounts, property disputes.
The Law Offices of Justin Kirk Tabayoyon represents clients going through a divorce.

While an uncontested divorce is not difficult to obtain, contested issues such as the division of community property, the payment of child support or spousal support, and child custody will be decided by a family law judge.

We understand due to hurt feelings and vindictiveness people can become unreasonable in a divorce. We try to negotiate reasonable agreements for you on contested issues, but if that is not possible, we will aggressively, zealously, and fiercely advocate on your behalf.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

I was involved in a highly complex divorce and child custody dispute in my personal life. This involved false criminal allegations fabricated to obtain child custody.

I hired five attorneys in two different states, faced outright false criminal charges, and had family law court cases in two different courts in two different states. I also experienced police misconduct through my contact with the police relating to family law problems. Through my personal experience, I learned the family law courts are severely flawed, criminal charges are absolutely filed against innocent people, and many police officers use unsavory tactics and others outright are biased, corrupt liars.

My personal experiences in life prior to becoming an attorney motivated me to practice family law, criminal defense, and to focus on police misconduct. To me, representing people in family law cases and in criminal matters is highly personal and I do it as a matter of principle because I strongly and deeply believe in what I'm doing. I love what I do. I'm passionate about what I do. And I will treat your case as if it were my own.

What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others

My personal experience in life sets me apart from my fellow attorneys. Most of my colleagues had their first experiences with the law in a book or in a classroom. While I have a formal legal education, I learned my first lessons about how the legal system works in real life, not in a classroom. I've personally lived through what you're going through. I am passionate about what I do because it is personal to me.

I haven't just studied family law or practiced in the family law courts. I have gone through a divorce, disputed custody of my own children, and been subjected to the rulings of family law courts. I know what is at stake for you.

I haven't just represented people accused of crimes, I've been falsely accused of crimes. I haven't just had people tell me about police misconduct, I've seen it with my own eyes and experienced it firsthand.

My own experiences in life are why I chose to practice family and criminal law. And I've represented many people just like you who were charged with crimes, going through a divorce, and disputing child custody.

I know what you are experiencing because I've been through it myself. I'm not some square guy in a suit who grew up with a silver spoon in my mouth, mommy and daddy paid for my education, and learned everything I know from a book, a classroom, or playing around with someone else's life.

When a person trusts me with a very serious issue in their life that is a responsibility I take very seriously. I am a military veteran and used the Montgomery GI Bill to obtain my undergraduate degree. Then while managing a corporate business during the day I worked my way through law school at night. I will give your case the seriousness it deserves and put in hard work to get you the best possible outcome.

I know what you're going through is one of the most important events of your life. I know the things that are most important to you in life are in jeopardy. You can trust me to represent you. Call me today for a consultation.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

At the Law Offices of Justin Kirk Tabayoyon we genuinely care about helping you. You're not just a case. You're a person who we are here to help, and we are passionate about what we do.

Is your firm willing to help a client with one discrete part of a case, without taking on the whole case?

Yes, we offer limited scope representation where we handle the complicated legal issues and the client handles the simpler tasks to save money and reduce costs.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Educating yourself on the legal issues involved is encouraged. Nobody knows more about the facts of your case and nobody cares more about the outcome of your case than you. The more active and involved you are with the legal issues in your case, the better.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

No. This would probably take much more time, energy, and money than it would if you just hired us to represent you. If you are cost sensitive, we offer limited scope representation for some legal issues, and we periodically take on a limited number of clients at a reduced rate based upon their income as part of our commitment to serving the community. Call us for more details.

Does your firm provide pro bono legal services or otherwise participate in your community?

Yes. We are a member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association's Moderate Means Family Law Panel. Through this program, we offer our family law legal services to a limited number of individuals with a verified low income at a reduced rate.

What are your policies about dividing work within the firm to make the process most cost-effective for the client?

We never duplicate work, and do not charge for unnecessary consulting among ourselves.

How frequently does your firm use mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law to resolve cases?

We strongly believe in mediation to resolve disputes. However, we also strongly believe in being aggressive when meditation is not effective due to the level of conflict.

Justin Kirk Tabayoyon

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California at Davis in Managerial Economics and a Juris Doctor degree in law from John F. Kennedy University School of Law.

I decided to practice family law after my own personal experience in a protracted and complex family law case which involved false criminal accusations. I understand the stakes are high for clients when their ability to parent, finances, and freedom are of consequence to litigation.

I am a zealous and aggressive advocate for my clients. I strongly believe in parental rights, gender neutral application of the law, and I detest police misconduct. I am an attorney that understands what is at stake and an attorney you can trust.

I am admitted to the State Bar of California, and I licensed to practice law in the State of California.
