Firm Overview

The phrase "estate planning" often evokes images of sprawling mansions, luxurious yachts, and priceless art, but the truth is, everyone needs an estate plan regardless of their net worth--especially if you have children, own a home, have retirement accounts or a life insurance policy. Charles' clients receive responsive, one-on-one counseling with an attorney determined to see their plans succeed. This individualized care is important because your family and assets are important.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

The majority of Americans (including 90%+ of adults under age 35), fail to draft even a basic will to protect their families' interests and provide instructions for the care and welfare of their minor children should they not be able to. That means the majority of American families will have to rely on the courts to divide their assets and care for their children when they lose one (or both) of their primary wage earners to death or incapacity. This judicial process can be time consuming, stressful, and costly--particularly when assets are limited, and the children are young. The common misconceptions that estate planning services are "too expensive," or "too complicated/time consuming" are among the most commonly cited reasons for failing to plan.

Upon recognizing the immense need, Charles Major was eager to add value to this under-served community by providing reasonably-priced estate planning services in a straightforward and painless process. After all, EVERYONE needs a plan, and the effort you put in now will save your family time, money, and stress in the future.

What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others?

Through his time in family law, Charles saw first hand how difficult and immensely stressful legal matters involving children and property can be. When the stakes are that high, there is no margin of error. Legal services must be prompt and efficient. In counseling his family law clients through their trying times, Charles learned the importance of sensitivity, patience, and attention to detail. The same is true in estate planning. It can be difficult and stressful to contemplate what will happen to your loved ones and property after you are gone--especially in the case of young/growing families. Charles understands the importance of making these decisions with the care, compassion, and the attention to detail they deserve.

Charles Major

Charles E. Major II is a talented young attorney, with spirited initiative and a commitment to excellence. Charles received his B.A. in finance from Texas Tech University's Rawls College of Business and his J.D. from the University of Southern California's Gould School of Law. Following a year of negotiating and drafting entertainment contracts, he went to work for a small family law firm where he helped former spouses get a fresh start by negotiating and enforcing child custody and property division agreements. This work allowed Charles to hone many critical skills, the most important of which being the ability to advise and counsel clients as they make challenging and life-altering decisions regarding their children and assets.

Even outside the context of a family law dispute, decisions regarding these matters come with profound and lasting consequences, and it is crucial to make them with the utmost care. Few people, however, understand the importance of these decisions and even fewer take steps to address them proactively. As a result, most people (including over 90% of adults under the age 35) fail to plan for the inevitable leaving their loved ones exposed to unintended, and at times devastating, consequences.

This realization created in Charles the desire to bring his collective experiences to bear to help parents and owners of small to mid-size estates make proactive decisions regarding their children and assets to prepare them for whatever the future may bring.
