Services Offered For Fixed Fees?

Our legal fees vary by the type of charge, the number of charges, and by the facts and circumstances of each case. We make every effort to set reasonable fees and to work with our clients to set up a plan that will allow then to afford our services. Legal fees can only be determined after sitting down with you, reviewing the case, and determining the best course of action. The initial consultation is free. Credit cards are accepted.
After determining your expectations we will be in a better position to quote a fee. Some clients want us to try and resolve the case early by intervening with the prosecutor in the hopes of having the charges dismissed or reduced. Other clients want us to negotiate the best possible plea or obtain their entry into a pre-trial diversion program. Some cases require intensive discovery, the filing of motions, multiple court hearings and possibly a jury trial.
Some attorneys use a "one price fits all" method in setting fees. We have chosen to evaluate each unique case and determine what each client's expectations are before setting a fee. We believe that you should not pay for services that are not needed on your particular case. We make every effort to be affordable without compromising service and results. When you're charged with a criminal offense, your good reputation, and often your future are on the line. This is a time when experience matters.

Is your firm willing to help a client with one discrete part of a case, without taking on the whole case?

I was interested in criminal law and doing trial work.

What are your policies about dividing work within the firm to make the process most cost-effective for the client?

Our experience as long time former prosecutors gives us the inside track on how decisions are made by the prosecutor and what we need to do to help the prosecutor make decisions that are beneficial to our clients.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

Tim Hessinger and Donald Kilfin handle every case together as a team.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Clients should always become as educated as possible on legal issues.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Our clients do not draft legal documents but they do prepare summaries of information that we use in preparing an effective defense.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

This is usually a very bad idea.
