Is your firm willing to help a client with one discrete part of a case, without taking on the whole case?

No. Consumer bankruptcies cannot be divided into discrete parts.

What are your policies about dividing work within the firm to make the process most cost-effective for the client?

Dividing work is not possible, because I am the only attorney in my office. However, recognizing the financial hardship of bankruptcy clients, I offer a free initial consultation. And in simple cases, I do all the work for a fixed fee.

How frequently does your firm use mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law to resolve cases?

The consumer bankruptcy process does not permit mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law.

Does your firm provide pro bono legal services or otherwise participate in your community?

I provide free bankruptcy basics seminars to the community. I have also taught a bankruptcy seminar for the Merced County Bar Association.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

My clients receive my personal attention throughout the whole bankruptcy process. From the initial consultation and the preparation and filing of the petition, schedules and statements to the meeting of creditors and the discharge and closing, my clients deal directly with me.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I strongly support clients educating themselves on the law from reliable, authoritative sources, because I believe that, as a result, they can better understand their legal issues and and make more informed decisions about their cases.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

No. Without knowing all the facts and personally applying the law to those facts in the document preparation process, I cannot tell whether documents are properly prepared, leaving both my clients and myself at risk of making costly errors and omissions.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

No. My duty to my clients is to zealously represent their best interests. However, I cannot represent their best interests by simply giving them information and instruction and then leaving them on their own, hoping they will make all the right decisions.

Raymond Isleib

I have devoted my law practice exclusively to helping people recover from overwhelming debts through the relief offered by bankruptcy. I know that often circumstances, such as the loss of a job, the break-up of a marriage, a lengthy illness, or choices made early in life, can lead to great financial distress. I also understand that filing for bankruptcy can be a difficult decision. So, whatever your situation in life, you can be assured that I will serve you with compassion and integrity, as I personally guide you through the complexities of the bankruptcy process.

I received my Bachelor of Science degree with high honor from Northeastern University and my Juris Doctor degree from San Joaquin College of Law. I am licensed to practice law in all the Courts of California and in the US District Court for the Eastern District of California. I am a member of the Central California Bankruptcy Association, the Merced County Bar Association and the ARAG (Group Legal Insurance) Attorney Network. In addition, I have taught Bankruptcy Basics for the legal community and the public.

I am married, with two children and three grandchildren.
