Collaborative Divorce
Collaborative law is a cooperative approach to working through divorces, allowing the divorcing couple to control the outcome of their case privately and without litigation.
In a collaborative case, the parties and their attorneys commit to working together to resolve their case outside of court. Professionals, such a financial advisor, divorce coach, or children’s advocate, may also be used to help everyone understand the issues and the consequences of certain decisions and choices.

In cases involving children, no one knows better than the parents themselves what will be best for a certain child. Courts will issue orders on what is believed to be in the child’s best interest, but the end result is often an order with which neither parent is satisfied. Collaborative law allows parents to come to their own agreements, based on what is best for their family.

Attorney Anna Goulet Zimmerman is currently accepting collaborative law cases and is a member of the Collaborative Law Alliance of New Hampshire and the International Association of Collaborative Law Professionals.
Divorce
I understand my divorce clients are coming to her at one of the most difficult times in their lives, when they need an expert and caring professional.

Anna received her Bachelor of Arts, with majors in Political Science and Philosophy, from the University of Vermont in 1992. She went on to obtain her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Maine School of Law, cum laude, in 1995. Practicing for many years near Fort Hood, Anna also gained a great deal of experience in military matters -- experience she has put to use in family law cases where one or more of the parties is, or was, a member of the military.

Anna is a member New Hampshire Association for Justice, the Manchester Bar Association, New Hampshire Women’s Bar Association, the Family Section of the New Hampshire Bar Association, the Collaborative Law Alliance of New Hampshire and the International Association of Collaborative Law Professionals.
Military Divorce
Military divorces are unique in many ways and have many overlaps with federal law requirements. If you or your spouse have been in the military, you should have an attorney representing you that is familiar with the intricacies of military divorces.
Practicing for many years near Fort Hood, Texas, before returning to New England, Attorney Anna Goulet Zimmerman gained a great deal of experience in military matters. Anna has put this experience to use in family law cases where one or more of the parties is, or was, a member of the military. Recently, Anna authored “Divorce in the Trenches,” a guide to military divorces, published in Bar Journal of the New Hampshire Bar Association in the Summer of 2012.
Family
Cases involving children are very emotional as the parties often disagree on what is best for their children. You will want an attorney who will both explain and protect your rights and your children's.
Anna Goulet Zimmerman's practice includes all areas of family law, including divorce, separation, parenting rights of unmarried parents, same-sex divorces, military divorces, collaborative divorces, post-divorce modification and enforcement, guardianships, restraining orders and child support matters. As mother herself, Anna knows how difficult these cases can be and will work hard to protect her client's rights in a way that is supportive and promotes what is best for the children involved.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

Anna recognizes that cases involving divorce and other family law matters bring people to her at one of the most difficult times in their lives. She believes strongly that cases can be handled in a way the protects her client's rights and interests, while focusing on what is best for any children involved and causing the least amount of emotional damage possible. Anna chose to accept cases in this practice area as she saw it as a field within which she could often have a direct and immediate positive impact on her client's lives.
