How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

Divorce and life-partner breakups are the second most stressful life events behind only the death of a loved one. Not only are your finances being challenged, your family life as you have known it is completely changing. In some situations your relationship with your child or children is being threatened. My very own life experiences inspired me to devote my legal practice to helping people through such life changing events.

When going through a divorce or life-partner breakup, you need an attorney who is not only experienced in all aspects of family law, but one who is understanding and compassionate about how difficult the process is. You need an attorney who is available to you, really available not just in words. You need an attorney who keeps you updated and informed about your case every step of the way as well as about the law to help you make informed decisions. You need an attorney who is skilled at both negotiating agreements in addition to being tough and aggressive. You also need an attorney who is very aware of the strain legal fees puts on you and is committed to helping you keep your legal fees as reasonable as is possible, and one who will work with your finances.

I am that attorney. I am not only experienced and educated in all aspects of family law, I am a skilled negotiator as well as an experienced litigator. That means that I attempt to settle cases amicably, but if that is not possible I will fight and will be as aggressive as needed to protect the rights of my clients. I am committed to being compassionate and understanding about what my clients go through, which means I give them individual attention and that I am accessible to them.

Importantly, I am aware of how expensive having an attorney is so I work hard to help keep legal fees as reasonable as possible, and in so doing when it is necessary I accept reasonable payment plans.

I am available for a free consultation so we can discuss how I can help you through your life changing event and protect your legal rights.

Janis Sims

I obtained my law degree later in life after raising three children as a single parent. However, for many years prior to becoming an attorney I worked as a legal secretary and then as a paralegal. Therefore, not only do I have life experiences that I am able to bring to my practice, I have several decades of legal experience. My personal life experiences enable me to identify with the struggles that my clients encounter and causes me to take my clients' needs and best interests seriously. My legal education and experience enables me to provide my clients with the legal expertise that their situation requires and that they deserve.
