J. Thomas Black
I chose to specialize in consumer bankruptcy law in the early 1980's because of the great need. Consumer debt was at a high level at that time, and many people had gotten themselves in trouble with debt.
There are many reasons for people getting into insurmountable debt problems, including loss of job or overtime, divorce, illness, business failure, disability, or any other number of reasons.
Our firm specializes in consumer bankruptcy; we want to help ordinary people get a fresh financial start, as Congress intended when it wrote the Bankruptcy Code.
J. Thomas Black as been practicing consumer bankruptcy law in Houston for over 30 years. He is well acquainted with the bankruptcy trustees, judges, creditor attorneys, and other personnel active in the bankruptcy community in Houston.
Additionally, Mr. Black is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and has been since 1989. He is active in the local bar associations, and attends far more continuing legal education each year than is required.
We believe in educating our clients about their rights, and the bankruptcy process. We want you to know what is going on with your case at all times. We make a great deal of information available to you, and we are available to answer questions. We encourage clients to use email when possible to communicate with us; it makes communication easier.
