Larson Andrew Welsh was born into a family of attorneys. Both of his parents are attorneys, as are three uncles and two aunts. He grew up in Henderson and graduated from Green Valley High School. Larson then attended Utah State University, graduating in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in sociology and political science. He graduated from the UNLV Boyd School of Law in 2011.

Larson is a member of the American Bar Association, the Nevada Justice Association, the Supreme Court of Nevada and the Federal District Court, Nevada.
