Firm Overview

Mr. Don believes in personal and direct communication with all clients and potential clients. Mr. Don personally calls each potential client after they have requested that he contact them about a case. Mr. Don believes that a potential client should have all of their questions answered before choosing an attorney.

Although Law Office of Donald D'Aunoy Jr., LLC is based in Metairie, Mr. Don travels to all clients outside of Metairie for their first in person consultation. Mr. Don meets with potential clients before they sign up with him so that he can gain their trust and form a bond.

In personal injury cases, Law Office of Donald D'Aunoy Jr., LLC advances costs and expenses, which may include medical testing and appointments and lawsuit filing fees in court. These costs and expenses are deducted out of settlement or judgment proceeds after the firm's fee is deducted. However, if no recovery is made on a case, the client will NOT be required to repay the law firm.

After signing with Law Office of Donald D'Aunoy Jr., LLC, Mr. Don works quickly and aggressively to perform the following tasks within the first two days of representation:
1) start a claim with the defendants
2) request all accident reports and insurance information
3) determine whether the client is receiving appropriate medical treatment
4) collect important information from the accident, including taking photos
5) requesting all of the client's medical reports and bills since the accident
6) schedule an in person status meeting with the client within 30 days

Mr. Don believes in regular status meetings with his clients. He personally meets with each of his clients at least once every two months. Furthermore, each client is provided with Mr. Don's direct number. If Mr. Don does not speak with his client when they call, he returns client phone calls within 24 hours of calling him.

All medical and accident reports, bills and correspondence relative to the accident are sent to the client as soon as Mr. Don receives them. Mr. Don believes that his clients should be as informed about their cases as he is. Mr. Don views the client-attorney relationship as a team with the client being in charge of major decisions like settlement and whether to file a lawsuit. Thus, Mr. Don consults with his clients before making major decisions on their cases, so that his clients feel that they are part of the decision making process.

Donald D'Aunoy Jr. worked as a civil defense attorney before devoting his practice primarily to representing the injured client. Mr. Don understands the strategies and tactics defense attorneys use when defending insurance companies. Mr. Don uses this knowledge to anticipate his opponents' moves in litigation to secure better positioning for his injured clients.

Mr. Don also teaches continuing legal education (CLE) courses to fellow attorneys. His past CLE presentations include: Prosecuting a Liability Claim Coupled with a Workers' Compensation Claim (N.O. Bar Association 2011) and Exploration of Choice of Physician Issues under La. R.S. 23:1121 (N.O. Bar Association 2010).

On November 2, 2016, Donald D'Aunoy Jr. will speak at the Louisiana State Bar Association's Workers' Comp. CLE. Mr. D'Aunoy will present the ethics credit of the CLE (1hr) on model fee sharing agreements under Louisiana Model Rules of Professional Conduct, Rule 1.5.

On December 14 and 15, 2016, Donald D'Aunoy Jr. will teach four courses at Plaintiff's Auto Injury: Advanced Litigation Strategies sponsored by the National Business Institute in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Mr. Don's mission is to provide personal service to his clients. Mr. Don's clients do not have to go through numerous staff to reach him. Each client is given direct access to Mr. Don. If he does not answer the phone when a client calls, he returns the call within 24 hours.

All clients are scheduled to meet with Mr. Don at his office for periodic status conferences. Mr. Don will travel to his out-of-town clients for their status meetings. All clients are regularly informed about their cases through regular phone calls and mailings.
