Reasonable and affordable legal guidance
Before you pay a credit counseling or a debt consolidation firm thousands of dollars to try and get a couple of debts reduced, talk with me. For a fraction of what the debt collectors charge, you might actually be able to wipe out all of your debts. I have spoken with many people who conscientiously paid a debt consolidation company to deal with their debts and still ended up having to file bankruptcy. My legal fees are less than most other bankruptcy lawyers, as I have been told many times by clients who have called around to other law offices in Western Massachusetts.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?
About 20 years ago I started practicing bankruptcy law, as it was an interesting area of the law and a way of assisting people who were at a difficult point in their lives and needed a competent and understanding attorney.
What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others
I have been doing bankruptcy law for over 20 years.
What distinguishes your law firm from others?
I try to be very efficient in handling cases so that I can charge less for my services. My fees are less than what is charged by most other lawyers doing bankruptcy law.
Phone calls are always returned promptly, either by my secretary/assistant or by me.
I graduated from the University of Chicago law school. I have lived in Northampton with my family and have practiced law for over 30 years. I have been doing bankruptcy law, representing clients in both chapter 7 and chapter 13 bankruptcy cases, for more than 20 years. In the past several years alone I have been a part of almost 100 bankruptcy cases.
I understand that anyone facing the prospect of filing bankruptcy is, by definition, under enormous financial stress. They, therefore, cannot afford large legal fees. I try to be as efficient as possible in doing bankruptcies, and to be mindful of my client's limited resources. I almost always charge less than other experienced bankruptcy attorneys. Clients have frequently told me that they have called around to other law offices and found that my legal fee is substantially less than they were told by other attorneys.
Although in most cases the legal fee and filing fee have to be paid in full before the case is filed in the bankruptcy court, I can start working on the case as soon as a partial retainer is paid. At that point clients can refer creditors to my office and there is relief from the pressure of constant phone calls.
