Las Vegas Defense Group represents clients facing misdemeanor, felony, DUI or juvenile charges throughout Nevada. Whether you are a local resident or a tourist, our experienced team of criminal defense attorneys can help.
Getting arrested for a Las Vegas criminal charge does not mean you will definitely be convicted. You are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. To be convicted, the District Attorney must prove you guilty beyond all reasonable doubt. We want to prevent that from happening.
Las Vegas Defense Group uses negotiation and litigation to try to get your charges reduced or dismissed with minimal or no penalties. Our team of attorneys are familiar with the judges, prosecutors, the Las Vegas police and the local criminal courts process. A thorough knowledge of the system, coupled with an in-depth analysis of your case, may lead to a winning defense strategy.
DUI and DWI
Many people plead guilty to Las Vegas DUI charges despite highly questionable state evidence. Therefore it is advisable to retain private counsel to evaluate your case's merits before taking a deal. Las Vegas Defense Group is here to help.
Nevada DUI prosecutors typically rely on four types of evidence when trying to prove that a defendant committed drunk driving:
(1) the defendant was not driving in a sober manner,
(2) the defendant smelled, spoke, walked and acted like an inebriated person,
(3) the defendant could not perform the field sobriety test well, and
(4) the defendant's DUI breath test or blood test registered a blood alcohol level of .08 or above.
Depending on the case, our Las Vegas criminal defense attorneys may be able to demonstrate that the state's evidence is too insufficient, inaccurate, or unreliable to sustain a guilty verdict...
Perhaps the cops did not have good cause to pull over the driver, or perhaps the cops did not give proper instructions when administering the field sobriety tests, or perhaps there were problems with the blood- and breath-testing equipment. If there are any holes in the state's evidence, Las Vegas Defense Group will leverage them to try to get the Nevada DUI charges reduced or dismissed.
What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others
The attorneys at Las Vegas Defense Group have varied legal backgrounds: Attorney Neil Shouse is a former prosecutor; Attorneys Lester Paredes and Daniel Page are former public defenders; and Attorney Michael Becker has more than twenty years of criminal defense experience and has tried more than ninety jury trials. So each of our clients benefits from the collective experience and knowledge of all of our attorneys.
What distinguishes your law firm from others?
Even the police go to Las Vegas Defense Group when one of its cops face criminal charges. The Nevada Association of Public Safety Officers, which is the state's largest peace officer association, contracts with Las Vegas Defense Group to defend any of its members who face actual or potential prosecution.
Neil Shouse spent 5 years as a deputy district attorney in California before retiring to do private defense. As a prosecutor, he completed some 60 jury trials and nearly 1000 preliminary hearings. He achieved a near-perfect success rate in jury trials to verdict.
Today, Attorney Shouse defends clients accused of misdemeanor, felony and DUI charges. He works closely with investigators, experts, toxicologists and fellow defense attorneys to prepare and execute his clients' cases. He uses his prosecutorial insight and experience in navigating clients successfully through the court system.
A member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National College for DUI Defense, Attorney Shouse has appeared as an expert legal commentator on Dr Phil, CNN, ABC News, Fox News Channel and Court TV.
