I opened my office in Grand Junction in November 2009. I help people take care of themselves and their loved ones. I am a solo attorney by choice. I give each client personal, individual attention. I take the time to listen to my clients. The documents I prepare are designed to meet the needs of each individual.
Estate planning services are on a flat rate basis. My clients know what their estate plan will cost up front.
Everyone needs an estate plan. The goal of estate planning is to avoid probate so that assets are preserved and pass to the loved ones of each client quickly and efficiently. Estate plans can be very simple or complex. An estate plan can be as simple as making certain that beneficiary designations are correct and that personal property will pass to the correct person.
The best estate planning also includes life planning. It is necessary to have more than just a will and a trust. It is also necessary to have medical and financial powers of attorney so that your loved ones can take care of you. You also need to have an advance health care directive (living will) so that you are making your own end of life decisions and the burden is not on your loved ones.
Because of client-attorney confidentiality, I will not provide information about prior cases.

I enjoy helping people make certain that they and their loved ones are taken care of. Having your estate plan done, makes you worry less. It is empowering.
People should educate themselves as much as possible on legal issues. When people are educated on legal issues, they know what questions they have, and that is where I can help
I am always willing to review documents prepared by clients.
I am willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves. I consider it part of my job to know what resources are available so that I can advise clients about the most cost efficient means of accomplishing their goals.
I practiced law in Oregon from 1995 to 2007. I was a partner in a six attorney firm in Grants Pass, Oregon. I took some time off from the practice of law to go back to school and study photography and art. After moving to Grand Junction, Colorado, I decided to open my own law office.
I know firsthand what it is like to lose a loved one and then have to go through the probate process. It was a long, painful process which was made more difficult by grief. This should not happen. With proper planning it would not have happened.
I am a person first, and a lawyer second.Personal interests:
I love taking photographs. I love exploring this part of the country. I love to travel. I love reading interesting books and exploring new ideas.
