Estate Planning

Our mission: Transmute uncertainty and confusion into security and well-being.

We do it by paying attention to you from the moment you contact us. We do it by creating custom tailored estate plans with your interests in mind.

Our estate planning packages include, in most cases:

1) Funding your trust

2) Free yearly review of your estate plan

3) Free unlimited phone calls about your estate plan

4) Collaborative planning with your advisers, if requested

Depending on your unique circumstances, an optimal estate plan will do some or all of the following:

* Manage for control of your property (while alive and well)

* Care for you and your loved ones (upon death, or should you ever become incapacitated)

* Manage the risks of incapacity

* Articulate your health care and end-of-life wishes

* Delegate health care decisions

* Provide for the needs of a surviving spouse (if applicable)

* Provide liquidity at death

* Specify inheritances

* Fulfill your charitable wishes

* Provide back up parents for children

* Plan for children (including those with special needs)

* Provide incentives and promote education and a strong work ethic for your children or other loved ones after you are gone

* Minimize the risk of children being hurt by affluenza

* Protect your assets

* Avoid the time and expense of probate (whenever possible)

* Minimize tax liability, attorney fees and court costs

Many of the inherent obstacles in estate planning are not so apparent at the outset, and consequently are best addressed by professionals trained to recognize and mitigate the pitfalls that could end up causing undue harm. Ko/Za Law Group will see to it that you and your loved ones are best equipped to determine your own future, and maximize the benefits of your assets.

Our experienced team will help you build the right plan according to your family structure, to best execute the transmission of your estate.

We do not discriminate against any family types, and proudly provide support for same-sex couples.

COLLABORATIVE PLANING

Ko/Za Law Group understands the value of the collaborative process and the powerful benefit this type of service can deliver to our clients. As a result, our strategic directive has placed significant focus on building a robust assembly of accountants, financial planners, stockbrokers, insurance professionals and specialized attorneys ready to serve the independent needs of both individuals and families alike, should it be necessary.

We strive to maximize the core talents of these professionals to benefit you the most, with the parallel goal of bettering the legal profession as a whole.

Upon your request, Ko/Za Law Group's collaborative planning helps our clients navigate the process by working with a team of professionals, whether your own, or ones we can put you in touch with.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

The "human touch" is often times what lacks the most when it comes to most law firms. Most lawyers know how to talk, but not many know how to listen.

Ko/Za Law Group hires attorneys who aren't only well-educated, highly skilled, and experienced. We look for attorneys who know how to connect with people on a human level.

Bobby Kouretchian

BOBBY KOURETCHIAN SPECIALIZES IN ESTATE PLANNING, BUSINESS LAW, AND TRADEMARK LAW.

Mr. Kouretchian provides strategic counseling and customized legal service to individuals, families, entrepreneurs, estates and businesses in the areas of Wills and Trusts, Corporate Law (Formation, Governance, Finance), Contract Law, and Intellectual Property.

Originally a native of Los Angeles, he began his legal career after completing his undergraduate work at USC, then receiving his juris doctorate degree from Pepperdine University School of Law, where he served as a member of the prestigious Moot Court Board (coaching member of the national runner-up moot court team) where he was the recipient of both the Guy P. Greenwald and Outstanding Leadership scholarships.

Mr. Kouretchian spent the early years of his legal practice primarily as a litigator, achieving a robust motion practice and case resolution success rate of over 95%. He has argued and appeared before the courts of the Central and Northern Districts of the United States District Court, the Superior Court of California (multiple jurisdictions), the United States Trademark Trial and Appeals Board, and argued before the Ninth District Court of Appeals.

In 2000, Mr. Kouretchian became a partner at a prestigious Santa Monica, California law firm where he represented hundreds of clients in a broad range of legal areas including commercial litigation, intellectual property (with an emphasis on trademarks and trade secrets) and corporate law. Among the highlights of his time there, Mr. Kouretchian served as lead counsel on the Travelergate case on behalf of the former owners of the University of Southern California football team mascot Traveler. His leadership resulted in an agreeable settlement of the widely publicized trademark dispute. Mr. Kouretchian also worked on behalf of entertainment and new media companies including Califa Entertainment, Playboy.com and USCFootball.com. During this period, Mr. Kouretchian also served as an adjunct law professor at Pepperdine University School of Law at Malibu, California where he taught Law of Cyberspace.

Mr. Kouretchian made the decision to redirect his professional focus from litigation to a more transactional-based practice, relocating from Los Angeles to San Diego in 2004, whereupon he launched the Law Offices of Bobby Kouretchian, specializing in Wills and Trusts and general transactional business law. The Law Offices of Bobby Kouretchian also provided (outsourced) in-house legal services to local southern California businesses.

Concurrently, Mr. Kouretchian also served in a consulting capacity on behalf of large international top-tier law firms, including DLA Piper, Morrison & Foerster LLP, Cooley, Godward & Cronish (now Cooley, LLP) and Coulghlin, Stoia, Geller, Rudman & Robins (now known as Geller, Rudman, & Robins) working on matters involving QUALCOMM, AIG, BAYER, and MICROSOFT, among others.

In 2007, Mr. Kouretchian accepted a position to work as in-house corporate counsel for Colorep, Inc., an environmentally sustainable textile printing company. As in-house counsel, Mr. Kouretchian assisted with the procurement of private equity financing and rights offerings, while also providing due diligence review on a considered (but untendered) reverse merger with a Canadian entity, and resulting merger with Transprint USA, Inc. Mr. Kouretchian left this position in 2012.

Bobby Kouretchian and Alex Zarrinneshan formed Ko/Za Law Group LLP in 2013. With the departure of Mr. Zarrinneshan in 2014, the LLP was dissolved and Mr. Kouretchian started KOZA LAW GROUP.

In his personal time, Bobby enjoys painting, golfing, playing basketball, and studying astronomy. But more than anything, he enjoys spending time with his son.
