Firm Overview

Our firm represents only people injured in California. We specialize in the areas of personal injury and wrongful death (such as auto and construction accidents), products liability (such as when a defective product causes injury), medical malpractice, legal malpractice, and other professional negligence causes of action (such as accounting malpractice).

We represent only plaintiffs.

Balamuth Law has been a family business in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties for 20 years. We maintain a family atmosphere and care very much about our clients.

Example cases

Defendant doctor unnecessarily removed the ovaries of a 29 year old woman, which later caused the need for an emergency hysterectomy. During the hysterectomy, the doctor sliced into the woman's bladder several times, requiring extensive surgeries to repair it. The doctor had a criminal record which had led California's medical licensing board to impose probation of his license to practice medicine. Nonetheless, the medical group and the HMO kept the doctor on their list of "preferred" providers. Plaintiffs sued the doctor for the two negligent surgeries and the medical group and the HMO for keeping the doctor on their list of providers.

Defendant's employee made an illegal lane change on the freeway propelling the plaintiff from the highway and causing her car to roll. As a result of the collision, plaintiff suffered eight left rib fractures, an open left humerus fracture with a degloving injury of the left forearm and elbow, a left clavicle fracture, left zygomatic complex fractures with a left orbital wall fracture, left temporal bone fractures, and left seventh nerve palsy.

Norman Doe was walking in a marked crosswalk when a tow truck driver struck him. He suffered head trauma, pelvic fractures, a broken wrist, and broken ribs. Norman Doe had to spend three weeks in a hospital to recuperate. The head injuries impaired his sense of smell and taste as well as his ability to concentrate and to control his emotions.

Mr. Doe (deceased) approached his neighbor and started a heated argument over a parking spot. The argument escalated and the neighbor punched Mr. Doe, who fell and struck his head against the concrete sidewalk. Mr. Doe sustained fatal injuries from the head trauma. After filing a lawsuit, Mrs. Doe recovered the policy limits of the neighbor's homeowner's insurance policy.

The plaintiff lived in defendant's apartment complex in a first floor apartment with a sliding glass door that led from the apartment to her patio which was separated from the parking lot by a wooden gate. Because the plaintiff did not own a car, she seldom used the sliding door to access the parking lot and she rarely walked from her patio into the parking lot at night. One night, the plaintiff walked out of her sliding glass door toward the parking lot. None of the three lights that should have illuminated the parking lot were lit. Plaintiff tripped over a parking beam and suffered a dislocated knee, fractured femur, ligamental knee disruption, and sensory loss on the top of her foot.

Personal Injury
Catastrophic injury, car accidents, truck accidents, work-related accidents, construction accidents, dog bites, dangerous property.
An accident and injury or death caused by the negligence of others can change the course of the lives of the victim and their loved ones forever. Moreover, physical injury is not the only type of injury the victim and victim's family must endure. There are substantial emotional injuries from pain, fear and loss of friend, family or function that can be as traumatic as the physical injuries. Yet another type of injury is the catastrophic cost-or financial injury-of being hurt in an accident caused by the negligence of others. If you or someone you care for has been hurt or killed because of someone's negligence, the Northern California personal injury attorneys at Balamuth Law, may be able to help.
Auto Accident
Car, truck, bus, bicycle, and pedestrian accidents.
Serious car accidents require the guidance of an experienced Northern California traffic accident attorney. Auto accident injuries may occur on freeways, streets, and even in parking lots to people in cars, bikes, motorcycles, and on foot. Sometimes the person who causes the injury does not have enough insurance. In such cases, you may be able to make a claim against your own uninsured motorist or underinsured motorist insurance coverage.

At Balamuth Law, our lengthy experience with California’s automobile, insurance and liability laws means we understand how to prove the full extent of your injuries and find all possible sources of recovery available to compensate you for your losses and suffering caused by the motor vehicle accident.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

I have been representing injured and wronged clients since 1994. I pride myself on standing up for individuals against insurance companies, corporations, and others who hesitate or refuse to take responsibility for their actions.
I care about the clients I represent. They aren't just clients, but people. My experiences with my own children and family help me relate to the troubles that can besiege someone when they are hurt or when they lose a loved one. I try to bring those experiences to my work and it has helped my clients trust that I am a human being just like them, only with a law degree and years of experience as a trial lawyer.
I have always striven for excellence in my legal career and am proud of the many cases that have concluded with clients as satisfied as they could be with my representation.
