Attorney Arnold Kaplan, founding attorney at Kaplan and Associates, Ltd., has represented clients in foreclosure and other real estate matters for 30 years, but we like to tell our new clients, "Don't hold our extensive experience against us." By that we mean we are a law firm known for using creative new approaches to resolving age-old disputes.

We are not the type of firm that reverts to bankruptcy if a more creative solution will better serve our client's objectives. We take the time to carefully review each client's unique situation, and we speak candidly about the options and the possible outcomes. We don't make decisions for our clients, but we go to great lengths to explain their situation in detail in attempt to eliminate surprises.

A number of lawyers jumped into bankruptcy and foreclosure law when the U.S. economy took a hit and thousands of homeowners found themselves in financial dire straits. We have counseled homeowners in foreclosure defense since 2002. We don't dabble in this area. We know it inside and out, and we get great satisfaction from helping homeowners and businesses resolve their legal problems.

Arnold Kaplan

Arnie has been a member of the Illinois Bar for over thirty years and has extensive experience in foreclosure defense. Having previously represented plaintiffs (lenders), he is well versed in foreclosure law and the methods of operation of the foreclosure firms. This makes him an extremely knowledgeable and highly effective counsel for homeowners. Arnie is also an experienced bankruptcy, commercial litigation, and real estate attorney, so he understands the overall financial situation faced by clients whose homes are in foreclosure.

Arnie has conducted foreclosure seminars at the Chicago Bar Association, Kane County Bar Association, Decalogue Society, Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, Chicago Legal Clinic, and other civic and community organizations in the Chicago Metropolitan Area, including the Chapter 13 trustee's office. He has also participated as a panel member in Clerk of the Circuit Court Dorothy Brown's Foreclosure Summits. Arnie is a graduate of IIT Kent College of Law and received his LLM in Real Estate Law from John Marshall Law School.
