I have been practicing criminal defense in East Texas for 31 years and am now practicing exclusively DWI/DUI defense. I am a certified practitioner/instructor for the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, a certified operator of the Intoxilyzer (breath test machine) and the Gas Chromatograph (blood test machine). (To my knowledge there is no other lawyer in all East Texas who is solely dedicated to DWI defense.) My motto is: "A plea bargain is never a bargain".

Hourly rates are killers!

DWI/DUI is the most technical and complicated area of criminal law considering the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, the Breath Test and the Blood Test. There are no other lawyers in East Texas who are totally dedicated to this area and are knowledgable and specifically trained for these issues. I decided to abandon all other areas of law and become totally dedicated to DWI defense.
I have 29 years of criminal defense experience, including DWI, and for the last five years have been totally dedicated to DWI defense. I am trained in the SFSTs (field tests) the breath test machine and the blood test machine.
Totally DWI!
Someone asked me recently if I've lived in Tyler all my life. I said, "Not yet"!
I went to school at Andy Woods Elementary, Hubbard Middle School and Robert E. Lee High School. Then I went to Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas (but Tyler's always been home) and received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Marketing. I then went to law school in Houston at South Texas College of Law where I majored in Criminal Law and received a Doctorate of Jurisprudence.
I returned home to practice law and for the last 29 years have been practicing Criminal Defense. The last five years I have practiced exclusively DWI/DUI defense. I really enjoy my profession.
I love my Angel-wife, my children, my Black Lab - Brenna, hunting, fishing, horses, back-packing and anything outdoors. I tolerate snakes and hate unfairness.
Because God is vitally important in my life, five years ago I was chosen to be one of six Elders at my church. The same emphasis of values is important in my law office also.
It is my goal in practicing law to put my clients first and do my very best to achieve their most favorable results. I often see an advertisement for a Criminal Defense Lawyer which says 'Former Prosecutor' or 'Former Assistant District Attorney'. It makes me think of the novel, 'Dr. Jeckel and Mr. Hyde'...a man switching from one to the other without notice. I have never been a prosecutor...I have always fought for the Accused Citizen! In elementary, middle and high school I would occasionally get in fights. Not because I was a pugilist, a fighter, but because I would be compelled to get between a bully and a weaker student...I guess I still do that today!
