Though I have been an attorney since December 2004, I began focusing on bankruptcy in 2008. The focus of my practice is Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy.Example cases

Yes, definitely. My initial consultations, which usually run approximately 30 minutes, are free.
Yes, most of the matters I handle are on a fixed-fee basis.
If necessary, we also have weekend appointments.
As mentioned, the feedback I get from clients going through a bankruptcy, many of whom are under tremendous personal and financial pressure, gives me reason to keep pushing forward for other clients. I also get a great sense of satisfaction in seeing clients go on with their lives substantially less stressed, and usually much happier, than when I first met them.
It is wonderful when clients have taken the initiative to educate themselves on a particular subject matter before consulting with me. This dramatically improves the quality of our consultation since potential clients are more equipped to discuss important, substantive issues if they already have a basic understanding of the subject. For that reason, I think highly accessible, do-it-yourself research sources, like Nolo, can be invaluable in helping clients achieve a basic understanding of their legal issue.
I am willing to review materials that clients have prepared.
It is not so much an "unwillingness to coach" but rather a reservation about this type of practice. Without the necessary legal training, I think it's difficult for the average person to simply undertake to "practice law" (even if it is just in pro per).
In between undergrad (Stanford University) and law school (UC Davis, Kinghall), I completed a Fellowship for the Sonoma County Economic Development Board.
I'm old-school in my steadfast belief that I have a non-negotiable duty to serve my clients to the best of my ability. I know that my clients trust me to look after their best interest and I take that trust to heart.
I have a strong analytical background and can grasp situations quickly - both of these skills help me to understand and solve problems efficiently and expediently. In my interactions with clients, I subscribe to the "How would I like to be treated?" approach. Generally, I prefer to be as straightforward as possible with my clients and strive to provide direct and objective answers upon which they can make informed decisions.Personal interests:
I enjoy traveling (well, I don't get to do too much of that nowadays), outdoorsy activities (tennis, snowboarding, hiking, camping) and curling up with a good book on a dreary, rainy afternoon.
