Prior to forming Meister Legal, Mr. Meister was a civil litigator for over ten years, handling large and small disputes in state, federal and arbitration forums, in a variety of practice areas: antitrust, intellectual property, trade secrets, products liability, insurance, employment, and commercial litigation. James also served as a trial attorney for the United States Department of Justice handling contract, construction, and employment disputes for various agencies of the U.S. government. Mr. Meister leverages this extensive and diverse litigation experience in analyzing issues and finding effective solutions for clients.

Mr. Meister graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, School of Law, in 1994. His legal career began as a federal judicial law clerk to The Honorable E. Richard Webber, U.S. District Court Judge for the Eastern District of Missouri and to The Honorable Edward L. Filippine, Senior U.S. District Court Judge for the Eastern District of Missouri. He also served as a staff attorney for the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
Mr. Meister grew up working on a family farm in rural Nebraska and attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln for undergraduate studies.
