James Folsom is a criminal attorney with a philosophy that every client deserves the most aggressive defense. His areas of expertise include DUI, Sexual crimes such as rape and pornography, violent felonies like those involving guns or drugs. He will take traffic cases to trial if that is the correct procedure for the specific case. He has an excellent reputation for working to get great deals on negotiated pleas.

His book is a reference book for all attorneys involved with federal cases. His expertise utilizes all the knowledge he has incorporated from his experience and research.

His diversivied experience includes defending clients in capital murder cases. One client received less than 3 years in prison while the other defendant in the same crime received the death penalty. In other serious felonies his defensive skills have allowed clients to avoid jail for crimes as serious as embezzlement of over a half a million dollars. While such cases are expensive due to the experts and time involved most cases are well within reasonable pricing for the average person.

Is your firm willing to help a client with one discrete part of a case, without taking on the whole case?

Not without some real good reason.

What are your policies about dividing work within the firm to make the process most cost-effective for the client?

My clients pay only one fee, mine.

How frequently does your firm use mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law to resolve cases?

Does your firm provide pro bono legal services or otherwise participate in your community?

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

Experience and wisdom. Personalized attention to detail.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Everyone needs a basic education in rights and responsibilities. Mr. Folsom provides basic written instruction of what to do if stopped, arrested or questioned. He also has a pamphlet free to all about what your rights really are and why you do and should use the right to remain silent.

You're not helping your case to be your own lawyer because (1) you're an amateur and (2) you're too close and emotional to look at the case logically.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Only for Notary purposes

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

My mal-practice carrier will not permit it.
