It seemed to be an area of law in which I could interact with people in need of help and then assist them through my knowledge of the law and the legal system.
I am highly in favor of clients undertaking the challenge of educating themselves on legal issues through research and discussion. Client knowledge enriches the attorney-client relationship and can only aid in the successful outcome of the case at hand. I consider explaining the law in easy-to-understand terms as one of my strengths. I would like to note that it is important for clients to confine their research to New York State matrimonial and family law because the laws vary widely from state to state.
I encourage clients taking a hands-on approach to their case. I often request that clients take the time and effort to prepare documents and information that are necessary in the effective presentation of his/her case and in the successful resolution of the case. Client knowledge is client power. The more I know about a client's case, the better I can represent her or him.
If a client is willing and able to attempt self-representation, I will coach them in whatever way best facilitates this undertaking. I have done so in a number of cases where the outcome has been highly successful and the clients greatly satisfied.
I was an associate in prominent matrimonial law firms for 20 years.
In almost 27 years of practicing divorce and family law, I have put in countless hours of researching, analyzing and thinking about, working on and worrying about the problems of the clients I represent, and how we can win what the entire family deserves.
Sometimes people don't expect a female attorney to be a fighter, but I am a ferocious fighter for my clients and I don't give in. In an area of law such as this, it is important to have that kind of tenacity. I am also genuinely interested both in my clients' and in the law. I am constantly researching to find legal solutions that may not be obvious and to find the best settlement or results for my clients. I just plain care about what I am doing.Personal interests:
