Is your firm willing to help a client with one discrete part of a case, without taking on the whole case?

Yes. Usual hourly rates would apply. If the matter became complex, or if the Court requested the attorney to represent the client in regard to other matters or parts of the matter, such would be billed at the usual hourly rate and an additional retainer would apply.

What are your policies about dividing work within the firm to make the process most cost-effective for the client?

The attorney believes that in the long run, the best prepared attorney is the one who has gone through all the evidence and the case in a way that makes her the most familiar with it. She uses support staff as considered appropriate for the complexity of the matter.

How frequently does your firm use mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law to resolve cases?

In North Dakota, mediation is mandatory in parenting matters. In other matters, it is also an important way to not only save costs and fees, but ensure that relationships are preserved in the best interests of the children.

Does your firm provide pro bono legal services or otherwise participate in your community?

Not currently.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

We have considerate, focused and dedicated staff who will listen to you, and give you legal advice specifically tailored to fit your situation and your needs during the time you need it most. We offer flexible appointment scheduling to suit your needs, in a private office, with hassle-free parking. For more details, see www.ndfamilylaw.com.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

It is important for clients to understand and appreciate the intricacies of our legal system, and to help them negotiate the many challenges that can have a long-lasting impact on their lives, and the lives of their children. Further, this will help them to avoid future problems. Preventive law is the best kind to practice.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Yes. Usual hourly rates and retainer would apply. If retained, the attorney would draft the documents filed.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

No. We focus on clients who need our expertise in the courtroom and during negotiations.
