How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

In law school there is a writing requirement before you graduate. I chose "Battered Women's Syndrome as a Defense to Murder" for my research topic. Thus was born my future in domestic violence, criminal law and family law.

I was an Indianapolis deputy prosecuting attorney from 2004-2008 in the domestic violence unit. I screened cases at the Julian Center from 2006-2008. I have provided domestic violence education to police departments, schools, state agencies and community groups.

From 2008-2015, I was a commissioner in the Marion Superior Courts in protective order court, domestic violence court and several criminal courts.

Criminal defense is a natural career path for someone who was in the court room almost every single day for 11 years. There are many overlapping issues in family law, domestic violence, criminal law and immigration.

Immigrants with criminal convictions, especially domestic violence convictions face potential deportation, which means as a defense attorney I better understand what's at stake.

Immigration is also important to me because my great grandparents emigrated to the United States from Hungary in 1901. It is sheer good fortune that I was born to my parents in Indianapolis rather than Hungary (or Ireland on the other side of my family).

I count the many blessings in my life and understand how fortunate I am to live in the US. I provide immigration services so other people will have the same opportunities my great grandparents, grand parents, parents, sibings and children have!

What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others?

1) Extensive domestic violence understanding, experience, and compassion;
2) Superior knowledge regarding Narcissism and other Abusive tendencies;
3) Eleven years of daily court room practice;
4) Profound understanding of civil and criminal courts as prosecutor, defense attorney, plaintiff's counsel, and judicial officer + I've been petitioner in my own dissolution case.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

We care.
