DUI and Reckless Driving Defense. See attorneyholcomb.com.
Despite what you may hear, a DUI or a Reckless Driving conviction is NOT automatic in Virginia! Although our DUI/Reckless laws are among the toughest in the nation, that does not mean that there are no defenses to these charges. You must NOT plead guilty or "plead down" unless it is your ONLY rational option. In most cases, you have more options than you think. You need a focused traffic defense teamthere is too much at stake.

Don't despair. Let us assure you that if you have come to this site, you know this is not over. Our entire firm is behind our DUI/Reckless clients. This is our job; we do this all the time. Nothing is more important than your freedom, your reputation, your life.

Reckless Driving in Virginia can be exasperating: for example, if you are stopped for driving only 81 mph in a 70 mph zone, you can be charged, not with a speeding ticket, but with a CRIME. Reckless driving by speed is defined as driving over 20 mph over the posted speed or over 80 mph anywhere in the Commonwealth. If you are convicted or if you plead guilty, you will have NOT a traffic record, you will have a CRIMINAL record . . . and for LIFE.

Begin with us at attorneyholcomb.com for FREE INFORMATION and a plan forward. You need to get this charge behind you and get on with living your life. Let us begin.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

Family Law, Criminal Defense, and Personal Injury are the practice areas that touch the most people and the most families. It is our intention to be your law firm for life, the number you call when you need legal Counsel.

What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others

Our Lawyers are prior military and prior law enforcement. Most of us had advanced degrees prior to completing law school and life experience before beginning the practice of law. For example, Mr. Holcomb completed a 20-year career as a Naval Officer and Pilot before attending law school.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

We are a faith-based firm, which means you can count on us to hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards, and our work ethic will impress you. You Matter Here is more than a tagline; it is our philosophy and our commitment to you and your case.

What are your policies about dividing work within the firm to make the process most cost-effective for the client?

Our firm uses a paralegal-primary strategy for your case. This means that the paralegal assigned to your case is your primary contact and the one who will do the majority of the work on your matter. Your attorney will stay involved as necessary and be prepared for all litigation, mediation or negotiation events of course. Your paralegal will keep you updated weekly on the status of your case so that you will never be in the dark. This strategy keeps things moving in your case though lawyers may be in Court often or very busy. It also saves you A LOT of money in fees, which makes most of our clients VERY happy!

Wayne Holcomb

Like many of you, I ain't from around these parts... I was stationed here as a Navy pilot, and when I retired, I became a Virginia resident. I think life is good in Hampton Roads. My own small hometown in Kansas has now grown to a bustling population of 331, but it was less urban in my youth! My midwestern family has been farmers and blue collar workers for as far back as we know.

I grew up in farm houses without indoor plumbing. Imagine where the "bathroom" was! Then we moved to a trailor house. I see now that, as far as amenities go, I was about a generation behind the rest of America, but it was not until I went to college, and saw what others had, that I realized how rural and poor we were. I really didn't care. Still don't. Neither should you.

Nearly everything I know that matters today I learned in church. I learned about service, that God is concerned about hurting people, and we should be too. I learned that we all have a destiny, a "calling," for which we were born and built to achieve for God's glory and our personal fulfillment. You have one too.

I attended Oral Roberts University for my undergraduate degree. There I served as a Wing Chaplain and a Resident Advisor and lead missionary teams to various parts of the world in the summers. I became the first person in my family ever to graduate from college.

For the next era of my life, for 20 years, I flew airplanes off aircraft carriers for the U.S. Navy and served as a Naval Officer. I ended my career with more than 200 arrested landings on aircraft carriers. (By the way, do you know the definition of a successful carrier arrested landing? You walk away!) I also served as a squadron Legal Officer.

While serving on active duty, I was able to complete my Master's Degree, an MBA, from Old Dominion University, working during the days and attending classes at night. When you start from nothing, you need to work hard to change your life. It was here, in graduate school, that I discovered mediation. What if Court was our last option, rather than the first?

Just before I retired from the Navy here in Virginia, I enrolled in law school at Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach on the G.I. Bill. I had planned and waited for this day for nearly 20 years. I did not miss the school's mantra about the law: "It's More than a Profession; It's a Calling."

At Holcomb Law, we begin with service, with the giving. This is why we offer free information, and a lot of it, in a profession which traditionally guards such information because lawyers should "charge for legal advice."

At Holcomb Law, we recognize that we are here for you, not you for us. We want you to know what to do. It's more than our tagline, "You Matter Here" is how we live and work. It's not just a law firm, It's a Calling.
