South Florida criminal defense attorney Henry P. Bell represents clients in federal and state courts. Mr. Bell represents clients being investigated by, or accused by, the United States Attorney, the Department of Justice, the Office of Statewide Prosecution or the State Attorney of various types of crimes, including health care fraud, mortgage or bank fraud, wire fraud, securities fraud, environmental offenses, drug trafficking and money laundering.
Mr. Bell began his legal career in 1996 as an associate attorney with the law firm of Rumberger, Kirk and Caldwell in Miami, Florida, representing corporate and individual clients in a variety of commercial, insurance, products liability and employment litigation matters. In 1999, he joined the Federal Public Defender in the Southern District of Florida as an Assistant Federal Public Defender, representing individual defendants accused of committing federal offenses, including drug trafficking, alien smuggling, bank robbery, bank fraud, securities fraud, wire and mail fraud and healthcare fraud. As an Assistant Federal Public Defender, Mr. Bell cut his teeth representing his clients accused of committing crimes by the United States government in all phases of their legal proceedings.
A native of South Florida, Mr. Bell maintains strong ties to the local community and is active in the legal community, currently serving on the Criminal Justice Act Panel Committee for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. He is also a member of the both the National and Florida Associations of Criminal Defense Attorneys.
Mr. Bell received his Juris Doctor degree from Fordham University School of Law, where he was a member of the Fordham International Law Journal, Moot Court, and the Latin American Law Students Association. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Alabama. Mr. Bell is fluent in Spanish.
