Firm Overview

Gwilliam, Ivary, Chiosso, Cavalli & Brewer is a Bay Area law firm focused exclusively on representing people with serious and complex personal injury, medical malpractice, employment, insurance disputes, business, and consumer law cases. For over 35 years, our mission has been clear: obtain the best possible result for each of our clients and, in so doing, help to create a safer and more just community. We are committed to giving each case and every client our very best. For this reason, a team that consists of one of the firm's partners, an associate attorney, a paralegal and a legal assistant usually represents each client allowing for the meticulous preparation for each claim.

We accept only those cases we genuinely believe in. We have shown time and again, our determination to take a case all the way to trial if that is what will obtain the best possible outcome for our client. We have achieved phenomenal results for clients who had been turned away by other firms. For some of those clients we were able to secure multi-million dollar verdicts or settlements.

The bravery of our clients is our inspiration and we honor that courage by striving to be equally courageous in our approach to the practice of law. In that spirit, we see our job as much more than just getting you the "most money". We see our clients as individuals and fellow human beings. We want to empathize with our clients and understand the impact that a serious injury or death can have on the client and their family. We endeavor to assist our clients in ways that sometimes have little to do with their legal needs, such as suggesting a medical professional or grief counselor. In the end, we are looking for justice for our clients so that we can enhance the quality of their lives.

In medicine, this is called the "holistic" approach. It is equally important in the practice of law. Our results, and the fact that the majority of our cases are referred to us by other attorneys in California and throughout the country, show that this holistic approach works. Serving Oakland, San Francisco, Berkeley, Hayward, Walnut Creek, and all of Northern California.

Wrongful Death

When we watch the evening news and hear about a fatal accident, our hearts may skip a beat. We often take a moment to give thanks it didn't involve someone we know. For those who have actually lost a husband, wife, child, or other family member in a case of wrongful or accidental death it is tragic. Grief and worry are shockingly real and lasting. Often, assistance is needed to sort out the pieces of this life altering event.

At Gwilliam, Ivary, Chiosso, Cavalli & Brewer, in Oakland, California, we believe it is critically important for a personal injury attorney working with survivors of a wrongful death situation to take time to really understand the family and their needs. Trying to place a monetary value on a human life is one the most difficult things we do. We realize wrongful death cases must be handled with the utmost care and empathy.

Whether a wrongful death has occurred as the result of a motor vehicle accident, bicycle or pedestrian incident, construction accident or case of medical malpractice, it is devastating to those left behind. Pursuing a claim against a negligent person, company, or entity is society's only way of attempting to balance the scales.

Securing financial compensation for the wrongful death of a loved one cannot diminish your emotional pain, but it can help to provide some stability for the future. Our firm works with valuation experts to determine the lost wage potential of the deceased as well as put value on the special times you could have shared. Although this may seem harsh, it is our job to convince a judge and jury you deserve fair compensation for your loss.

If you are an attorney interested in referring a wrongful death case to our firm - your inquiry will be reviewed by our lawyers and receive a prompt response.

For more than 35 years, we have offered compassionate representation to those wishing to achieve some sort of justice. To discuss your case, contact us by calling 866-675-1929. We represent clients throughout the Bay Area and Northern California.
