I am the only attorney in my firm. After three years gaining experience while working for another local attorney, I established my own practice in 2006 and have enjoyed serving clients in Murray and Calloway County since that time.
I focus my practice on the areas of Real Estate Law, Wills and Estate Planning, Probate Law, and Business Law, including forming corporations and LLCs.
I helped a client set up a revocable living trust so that her property would pass through to her children and grandchildren at her death with no probate. That is relatively common, but one uncommon trust I have established was a Qualified Personal Residence Trust for a client who wanted to pass her residence on but live in the house for another ten years. In the business arena, I have helped multiple clients establish LLCs and corporations and helped other clients with contracts and leases.

The areas of business, real estate, and estate planning were a natural fit. All of my family members are business people and I grew up with the business-owner mindset. When I got into the real estate business I developed an affinity for handling the details of a transaction for my clients. Estate planning has been an interest for me for some time. I enjoy thinking about ways to save taxes and plan for future needs.
When a client has a grasp of the legal issues they are facing, it only helps me represent them. In today's digital age, I would recommend that a client learn as much as possible about their issue so that they can ask better questions during my consultation with them.
I would be happy to review documents prepared by my clients and will be frank with them regarding when revisions to those documents are necessary.
Provided that the client agrees not to hold me liable, I would be willing to coach a client as long as they are prepared to pay my fee.
My legal career began during law school when I had internships with the Supreme Court of Kentucky and the Fayette County Commonwealth Attorney. After law school, I joined the local law firm of Hurt & Jones and spent three years practicing law with Rick Jones. In 2006, I opened my own law practice and in 2007 moved to my current location on 12th Street (641 Highway) in Murray.
I am a native of Murray and Calloway Counties and I really enjoy the people here in my hometown. I am a business owner and own a real estate investing company and a realty company, which helps me understand the needs of my real estate law and business law clients. As far as education, I am continually educating myself in the area of estate planning due to my teaching position as an adjunct professor at Murray State and enjoy putting those techniques to use for my clients.
I have a very laid-back style and am generally easygoing. I believe one of my greatest strengths is my ability to quickly assess a client's situation and outline a plan of action to them.Personal interests:
In addition to the practice of law, I am active in the Murray and Calloway County communities. My family and I are active in our church and we serve as leaders of our small group at Christian Community Church in Murray. In addition to these activities, my parents and I also own Cornerstone Realty & Rental, LLC, which is a realty and property management company in Murray. I also serve as President of Creative Property Solutions, Inc., a real estate investment company located in Murray. As far as hobbies, I am an avid sports fan and follow the Murray State Racers and Kentucky Wildcats.
