Social Security Disability
Welcome to FREEMAN & FREEMAN, a law firm dedicated to serving accident victims and the disabled, including Veterans. We have been helping injured and disabled clients for over 25 years.
We represent clients primarily in the areas of Social Security Disability, Supplemental Security Income, Veterans Benefits and Personal Injury. Stephan Freeman handles the Social Security disability, SSI and veterans benefits. He has been handling the Social Security claims since 1990 and veterans claims since 2007. Bonnie Freeman handles the personal injury. We handle claims from the application process through all appeal levels, including federal court. Mr. Freeman has handled over 2000 Social Security cases. That is over 24 years.

We pride ourselves on our hands on approach. In other words, when you call, you speak to an attorney. When you come in for the first appointment, you meet the attorney. While we obviously have staff, and you interact with them, you can always ask to speak to the attorney. The attorney is the one who prepare you for the hearing. The attorney is the one who goes with you to the hearing.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

We believe that we ended up in our areas of law because we have the skills to help people obtain benefits from either large governmental bureaucracies or insurance companies. We help people typically at the end of their ropes and have little resources at their disposal. We enjoy helping people who have serious illnesses and injuries obtain the benefits they deserve.

What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others

We have the same basic training as other attorneys. What we have that most attorneys do not have is experience and empathy. As discussed elsewhere, Mr. Freeman has handled over 2000 Social Security cases over 24 years. Ms. Freeman has handled personal injury cases since 1983.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

We believe we have three primary traits that distinguish us from other law firms. We are hands-on and face-to-face. You meet the attorney at the first appointment. You can call and talk to the attorney at any time. You can call and set an appointment to talk to the attorney at any time. The attorney is the one who prepares you for the hearing. The attorney is the one who attend the hearing with you. While you will deal with legal assistants, the attorneys oversee every file and review it from time to time.
The second trait is our experience. As discussed elsewhere, both attorneys have been practicing since 1981. Mr. Freeman has been practicing Social Security law since 1990 and has handled over 2000 cases. He has handled Social Security law exclusively from 2003 through 2007. In 2007 he added veterans benefits. That gives Mr. Freeman the opportunity to focus on just to areas of law. Ms. Freeman has been handling personal injury cases since 1983.
The third trait is our empathy. We have represented thousands of clients over our 33 years. We understand the difficulty in illness or injury can have in their lives. We have seen it multiple times. We appreciate the anguish and difficulty our clients go through.

Stephan J. Freeman

I was born in Boston, Massachusetts and grew up in a small town outside of Boston on the Massachusetts coast called Marblehead.

I moved to St. Petersburg when I was in middle school and attended a public middle school and high school in St. Petersburg. I graduated college from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and obtained my law degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville.

I returned to St. Petersburg in 1981 and have been practicing law here ever since.  I have been married since 1981 and have two children.  I have practiced law with my wife here in St. Petersburg since 1991.  I have been handling social security cases for over 20 years and have actually represented over 2000 people in their claims for social security disability benefits, and would like to help you in this regard.

Bonnie L.E. Freeman

I grew up in the small town of Metuchen, New Jersey but have been a Floridian since attending the University of Florida, both for my undergraduate degree and then for my juris doctorate degree in law school.

My legal career began in Tampa as a Hillsborough County Assistant State Attorney. While there, I prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases on behalf of the State of Florida. Wanting my legal practice to be based in the community in which I lived I became associated with a well respected St. Petersburg personal injury law firm where I developed civil trial skills representing only those who were injured through the fault of another.

Since 1983 I have represented only the plaintiffs in personal injury and wrongful death claims including motor vehicle, motorcycle, commercial trucking, pedestrian, bicycle and moped accidents. These kinds of cases often involve uninsured motorist claims and other types of insurance disputes. My personal injury practice also includes premises liability cases such as slip and fall or trip and fall accidents.
In 1991 I joined my husband Steve to form Freeman & Freeman where I have continued to concentrate my practice exclusively in the field of personal injury and wrongful death claims and litigation.

I am a member of the Florida Bar, St. Petersburg Bar Association and the Florida Justice Association. I am admitted to practice before all Florida State Courts and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

I am married to my law partner and we have 2 children, both of whom are grown.
