Steve Fields

As the founder of Fields Law Firm, Steve began his law career with a small personal injury law firm helping people injured throughout Minnesota. Steve believes his experience has helped him to be prepared for any circumstance that his clients face after getting hurt at work or if they are disabled and unable to return to work.

Steve grew up in Kasson, Minnesota, just outside of Rochester where he learned the value of hard work and spent time doing a variety of jobs including painting, janitorial work, and working for small family farms before heading to college in Mankato.

When he isn't working, Steve spends time with his wife and two kids, heads up to the Boundary Waters (favorite outfitter Piragis), reads, and plays the guitar.

Kristen Gyolai

Kristen Gyolai believes that being a good lawyer means being a good listener.

Hailing from Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Kristen came to Minnesota to earn her bachelor's degree in communication and writing studies at the University of Minnesota Duluth. She graduated magna cum laude. During her time as an undergrad, she was a reporter for the student newspaper, resident advisor, communication club officer, and Chairperson of the College of Liberal Arts Academic Advising Committee.

She went on to study law at William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. During law school Kristen was active in the Minnesota Justice Foundation and Mitchel Mentors. Prior to being admitted to practice law in Minnesota, Kristen learned about personal injury law while clerking with Fields Law Firm.

Kristen is a current member of the MSBA New Lawyer Section and the Minnesota Association for Justice.

During her spare time, she enjoys running, practicing yoga, reading, and cooking for her family.

Brandon Operana

Brandon Operana joined Fields Law Firm bringing previous experience with injury law cases from working in other private law firms and for the federal government. As an attorney, Brandon is passionate about being an advocate for his clients and helping them get the money they deserve for their medical bills and lost wages. He enjoys being able to help clients feel whole again and have a sense of security by knowing that their families are in good hands.

Hailing from Chicago, Illinois, Brandon received his associate degree in legal studies from Robert Morris University. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, before earning a Juris Doctor from Hamline University School of Law.

During his free time, Brandon enjoys a variety of hobbies, including going to the gym, kayaking, fishing, playing with his pets, running, playing video games, working on his car and house, and even skydiving.

Michael Freske

Michael Freske brings a wealth of experience in Workers' Compensation, Personal Injury and Social Security Disability to Fields Law Firm. Mike takes pride in helping clients through the difficult times they face because of their injuries. He is an advocate who will fight for the injured, taking away the stress from their legal matters, while they focus on getting better.

Mike has over 10 years of experience representing injured and disabled people and has represented people all over the country and appeared at over 1,000 hearings. He has also completed personal injury cases through jury trial and has been successful at hearings, arbitration's and resolved many cases through mediation's and settlements.

Mike grew up in Otsego, Minnesota, where he attended St. Michael-Albertville high school. He then attended Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota, where he graduated with High Honors. At St. Cloud State University Mike graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Business.

From a young age, Mike planned on going to law school. That goal came true when he received a scholarship to attend the University of Minnesota Law School. During law school he was active in moot court and graduated cum laude. Recently, Mike received his Masters of Business Administration from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. While there he was a Carlson Scholar, a distinction awarded to students with over a 3.85 GPA.

Mike is admitted to practice in the United States District Court of Minnesota and Minnesota state courts. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, the Minnesota Association of Justice and NOSSCR. He is also a past president of the Anoka County Bar Association.

When he isn't helping injured people, Mike enjoys playing and coaching amateur baseball, working out and following the local sports teams.

Zachary Schmoll

Most people call a lawyer when they have a problem. Zachary Schmoll enjoys solving those problems and helping people get into the best possible position to move forward with their lives. Zach understands the unique challenges that his Social Security Disability clients face and approaches each case with care and compassion, ready to tackle issues as they arise.

Zach earned his bachelor's degree in communication at the University of Minnesota with a minor in management through the Carlson School of Management. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law.

During law school, Zach was active with the Minnesota Justice Foundation, IRS Vita Program Volunteer, and served as a Judicial Extern to Judge Kerry Meyer in Hennepin County District Court. Zach is currently an alternate MSBA Assembly Representative for the Hennepin County Bar Association.

Outside of work, Zach enjoys golf, ice fishing, hunting and being outdoors. He also coaches 7th grade football in Edina and values his time with family and friends.
