Firm Overview

Ours is a family, general practice firm. We have a long history of providing superior bankruptcy advice and service. In addition to bankruptcy practice, we represent business clients in all matters from formation, litigation and dissolution.

Example cases

I have had the pleasure of representing individuals from every walk of life. I have filed bankruptcies for folks who have very little and want to file bankruptcy just to stop the calls and threats of collection. I have helped farmers reorganize their affairs in Chapter 12 and small businesses and individuals in Chapter 11. I enjoy working with my clients. Every case and client presents new challenges, which certainly makes practicing law much more enjoyable and exciting.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

Because I practice in a less populated area I am a general practitioner. Bankruptcy practice is a large percentage of my practice and probably the area I enjoy the most. The bankruptcy system is made to be efficient and to provide immediate relief. It is satisfying to help eliminate some of the stress an individual feels when they are facing mounting debt.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Clients should educate themselves about legal issues, but they should not rely solely on the bits of information they receive online or from other research. Researching specific issues can only give a client a part of the picture. Clients should be educated and they should use that education to help themselves understand the legal process, but not as a replacement for sound legal advice.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am always willing to consider my client's input in preparing any document but I will not review documents for potential clients who intend to represent themselves.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I do not coach clients who want to represent themselves.

Erica D Koetting

While in law school I worked as an intern for King, Hershey, P.C., a firm in Kansas City, Missouri. I have worked all of my life, mostly on my family's farm and part-time jobs from a local bakery to a dairy farm during college. In 2002, I began working as an attorney and member of O?Loughlin, O?Loughlin & Koetting, L.C.

I am dedicated to my clients and hardworking. I answer my clients' questions. I return phone calls promptly.

My bankruptcy experience is varied. The attorneys in my firm have over 30 years experiences in the bankruptcy field.

I am detail oriented, organized and prompt. I think these traits serve my clients well.

Personal interests:

I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter.
