How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

I chose to be a criminal defense lawyer because I am passionately opposed to government encroachment into the lives and liberties of individuals.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Individuals should use the resources available to them to educate themselves about their rights in the criminal justice system.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I think it is extremely dangerous for non-lawyers to attempt to prepare their own documents in serious criminal matters.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I don't recommend that anyone represent themselves in a criminal case. The state or federal government will be represented by a skilled lawyer.

Gerry Morris

I have been engaged in the private practice of law since beginning my practice in 1977.

There is no substitute for experience. In my years of practice, I have seen just about every type of prosecution or investigation imaginable.

I believe that a criminal defense lawyer has to be skilled in mounting a defense based on the law as well as before the jury. Many times, an accused does not receive the proper outcome until the case is appealed. I have extensive experience in all phases of criminal defense.

Personal interests:

My personal interests vary from outdoor activities, to computer technology, politics and professional organizations that advocate at the state and national level for the rights of individuals in the criminal justice system.
