Bankruptcy
Ms. Smith uses her vast court room experience as the Assistant District Attorney to effectively defend her clients against criminal charges. Bankruptcy and Family Law are also firm specialties.
We live in a time where consumer bankruptcies are increasing and personal debt in Oklahoma is at an all-time high. It is a sad fact that good, hard-working people can find themselves burdened by overwhelming debt. Life does not always go the way we planned and debt may be the result of factors beyond an individual's control: high medical costs as the result of unexpected illnesses or accidents; losing one’s job and facing unemployment in a tough economic time; and any other economic problems that place too many Oklahomans into financial situations they never could have imagined, or predicted. Thankfully, bankruptcy is an option that can help people just like you to get out from under the overwhelming clouds of debt. Debbie L. Smith will go the extra mile for you to help you get a fresh start on a brighter financial future!
Family
Ms. Smith uses her vast court room experience as the Assistant District Attorney to effectively defend her clients against criminal charges. Bankruptcy and Family Law are also firm specialties.
Family law is a term used to describe a wide range of legal matters pertaining to mothers, fathers, children, and other members of a family. The most common type of family law case is a divorce, separation or post-divorce dispute involving children.

Debbie L. Smith handles a wide range of family law matters, including:

DIVORCE Debbie L. Smith works hard to help families navigate the divorce process with grace and dignity. However, if litigation is necessary to protect your interests, Debbie L. Smith is well qualified to take your case to court with her vast courtroom experience as a Former Prosecutor.

CHILD CUSTODY Child custody is often the most emotional issue in divorce.

CHILD SUPPORT Oklahoma uses a formula known as the child support calculator to determine the amount of support to be paid from one spouse to another for the support of the children.

MODIFICATIONS AND ENFORCEMENT OF FAMILY COURT ORDERS If your circumstances have changed or you are struggling to get the other party to cooperate with an established child custody or child support order, Debbie L. Smith will help you seek the appropriate court actions.

SPOUSAL SUPPORT Spousal support or alimony means an order for payment for the support and maintenance of a spouse or former spouse, periodically or in a lump sum, for a specified or for an indefinite term, ordered in an action for divorce.

PATERNITY ACTIONS Unmarried parents have rights to child support and child custody. Your child deserves a meaningful relationship with both parents. Debbie L. Smith will help parents establish paternity and parental rights.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE Debbie L. Smith will represent people who seek protective orders, as well as those who are accused of domestic violence.

CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES If you are accused of child abuse or neglect, you should contact an attorney, as soon as possible, to protect your rights as a parent. Debbie L. Smith has worked closely with the Department of Human Services as the former Assistant District Attorney and knows how the system works.
