Firm Overview

Fifteen years ago, I broke off on my own to open up my private practice. Since then, I have spent my time pursuing justice for each and every one of my clients. I have always wanted a high-level boutique firm that can provide the personalized attention of a small firm while representing clients with the professional, hard-hitting assistance of a much larger firm. My clients can trust that they will receive this should they choose to be represented by my firm.

My firm is focused on providing results to clients who are currently dealing with criminal accusations. Should a client choose to work with a Brooklyn criminal defense attorney from my firm, they will be able to breathe easier knowing that they will have high-quality and devoted legal assistance when it is needed most. It is my vision to provide personalized, trustworthy legal assistance and I work exhaustively to provide this each and every day of my practice.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

I chose criminal law because I found the entire process to be fascinating. Since my initial draw to the area of practice, I have found that is both deeply enriching and rewarding to help clients deal with the possibility of conviction and to help them defend themselves not only against the immediate threat of penalties, but also the long-reaching effect that can come from a poor outcome.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

No case should be entered into blindly by a client. I therefore encourage them to get a basic understanding of the law so that they are bettered equipped to stay informed about the case and involved in the process as I move forward in my efforts to protect them.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

There is no blanket answer that can be given to this question as it will truly vary depending on the document that is provided. If I view the document as relevant to the case and helpful, I will gladly review it and use it as a valuable resource. The more relevant information that I have, the better I will be able to build a case.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

In an initial case evaluation, my client and I will look through all options and discuss their case so that together we will be able to determine the best way in which I will be able to help them.

David E. Levine

Before opening my own private practice, I had an eclectic experience in employment. As I am a dual-citizen, I spent four years in the Israel Defense Force. After being honorably discharged, I began to attend law school, during which I served as an intern in the Kings County District Attorney's Office, as well as a Legal Assistance for the United States Attorney's Office, Eastern District of New York. Upon graduation, I went to back to the Kings County District Attorney's Office as an Assistant District Attorney in the Organized Crime Bureau where I eventually was promoted to Senior Assistant District Attorney.

My time spent as a prosecutor was both beneficial to me as a person and as a lawyer. During this time I was able to be given a full understanding of the law and a deep appreciation for the criminal justice system. I utilize both of these every day in my efforts to protect my clients against the possibility of conviction. As I have spent considerable time on both sides of the law, I am able to give a unique perspective and a full-bodied understanding that cannot be imitated by attorneys who have only spent time on a single side of it.

I am both hard-hitting and personally invested in each and every case. By balancing these two goals, I am able to give my clients representation that is compassionate to what they are facing, but tough in dealing with the process.

Personal interests:

I love to practice law. It is a deep passion of mine and one that I consider myself lucky to deal with on a daily basis.
