Established in 1885 in Beatrice, Nebraska, Dalke, Smith & Maurstad offers quality legal service in the areas of estate planning and probate, estate administration, real estate transactions, taxation, business planning and entity formation, commercial and business litigation, municipal law, family and domestic law, and personal injury representation.

The attorneys of Dalke, Smith & Maurstad are Nebraska born and educated. Our firm is community oriented, and we extend out support for civic and community projects throughout the State of Nebraska. While we provide legal services to the residents of Beatrice and communities throughout Nebraska, we also represent individuals and businesses from all over the United States.

Duane Smith

Duane W. Smith was born and raised near Bertrand, Nebraska. He graduated in 1972 from Nebraska Wesleyan with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics and Supporting Fields of Math and Chemistry. He earned his law degree from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1977. He has practiced law with the firm from 1977 to the present date. He served in the United States Army from 1972 to 1974.

Mr. Smith is actively involved in public service, serving on the boards of directors of Museum of Nebraska Art, Nebraska Public Radio Foundation, Education Service Unit No. 5 of Nebraska, Beatrice Public Library Foundation, Southeast Nebraska YMCA Foundation and Centaury United Methodist Church, Board of Trustee.

Mr. Smith has been licensed to practice law in the state of Nebraska since 1977. He is a member of the Estate Planning and Probate Section of the Nebraska Bar Association.

Ingolf D. Maurstad

Ing Maurstad was born and raised in Beatrice, Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, and his law degree from the University of Nebraska College of Law. After graduation, he served as an active duty Captain in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps and is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Mr. Maurstad joined the firm as an Associate in 2010 and in January 2011, he became a partner.

Mr. Maurstad is actively involved in public service, serving on the board of directors of the Gage County United Way and Main Street Beatrice. Since 2009, Mr. Maurstad has served in the Nebraska Air National Guard as a U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate, and currently holds the rank of Major.

Mr. Maurstad has been licensed to practice law in the state of Nebraska since 2003. Mr. Maurstad is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court of Nebraska and Nebraska State Courts.
