The Hopkins Law Firm, P.C.

Firm Overview

The focus of my practice is to help people who have been personally injured and to advocate for the families of those who have been killed because of someone else's negligence. I also work with clients who have been arrested for DUII. I bring personal care and professional excellence to every case I handle. That is what The Hopkins Law Firm is all about and what I do reliably, every day.

As a sole practitioner, I take great pride in being an attentive listener, a knowledgeable resource and being personally available to my clients. I have the flexibility to choose my cases and to spend the time it takes to get to know my clients. Finding the right solution to a legal dilemma should be a collaborative effort. I place a high a value on listening openly and closely to every client because, in my experience, that is the key foundation to formulating the most effective defense.

Each client's personal needs and concerns are taken into account when formulating a plan of action. I listen carefully to understand each individual's circumstance and challenges, then guide the client through the entire process. I rigorously defend, skillfully negotiate, and strive to achieve the very best result for my client. I get personal satisfaction in knowing that each and every client can rely on me to be responsive to their concerns and handle their case with professionalism as we work toward a favorable outcome.

The Hopkins Law Firm was established in Oregon in 2005. It was a lifelong dream of mine to move to Oregon to establish my own law practice. The firm's growth over the years can largely be attributed to my determination to give each client's case the personal and individual attention it needs and deserves. I am genuinely interested in the welfare of my clients. I always try to do more than merely obtain a successful result in a particular case. I am certainly proud of the results I get and the speed with which I get them. I've maintained friendships with many of my clients long after I've won or settled their cases. My relationships with them are just as rewarding as my professional accomplishments on their behalf.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

I want to help people and families who have been harmed by another person's wrongful or illegal conduct. It feels good to "protect the little guy" against powerful insurance companies. Every case is so different, and it is truly an honor to represent individuals and families in their darkest hours and to find the right solution for their legal dilemma in order to compensate them for their suffering.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I encourage clients to educate themselves as much as possible on their legal issues so that they are well informed. Finding the right solution to a legal dilemma should be a collaborative effort. The more informed the client is, the better he or she will understand the true nature and extent of their legal challenge. I've also found that an informed client can be an invaluable asset to successfully litigating a personal injury or wrongful death case. For more information, please visit my website or call (888) 485-8046.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am willing to review documents prepared by another, but if the client is going to be represented by a lawyer, it is usually best to have the lawyer prepare them. Please feel free to call (888) 485-8046 to discuss that possibility. It is always a privilege to assist my clients in any way I can. Potentially, the time we take to review any documents will helps us bond and develop a long-term relationship that may lead to a mutually beneficial win-win relationship.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

It is important to ensure that a client's legal interest is truly protected. While I encourage my clients to educate themselves, I will always counsel with their best interests in mind for the most favorable legal outcome. As an experienced attorney, you would be paying me more by the hour to coach you than if you simply allowed me to negotiate the case for you.

Craig M. Hopkins

Before practicing law full time, I spent nearly 20 years working for a Fortune 500 pharmaceutical company, first in sales and then in legal compliance during which I gained invaluable negotiating skills. Through years of "trial by fire" education working in the sales field, I discovered a wide range of negotiating methods and honed effective negotiating strategies all the while learning which situations to best apply them in. Today, these skills have proved invaluable in my endeavors to get fair and comprehensive results that best protect the interests of my clients.

I believe those life experiences that challenge me to think logically and analytically serve to bolster my law practice. Also, growing up in Southern California, consisting of diverse population, has given me the tremendous gift of empathy and the ability to relate to all kinds of people. I've tried many cases before juries and have noticed that my life experiences have helped me to bond with my jury. Once a jury likes you and your client, the rest is easy.

I have a reputation in the community for being straightforward, reasonable and effective. I am genuinely interested in the welfare of my clients. What sets me apart is not what I do, but how I do it. As a sole practitioner, I have the flexibility to choose my cases and spend the time to get to know my clients. Finding the right solution to a legal dilemma should be a collaborative effort. Often, there may be more than one way to resolve an issue.

Each client's personal needs and concerns are taken into account in formulating a plan of action. I never take an assembly-line approach to my clients' personal injury and auto-accident claims. In addition to maximizing recoveries for his clients suffering personal injury, I also handle criminal matters in an effective and confidential manner.

Personal interests:

My personal life is filled with the things I enjoy such as golfing (poorly), camping, backpacking, lifting weights, listening to live music, taking trips to the coast, reading and cheering for the New England Patriots.
