Why you need an attorney
Some people assume that the only thing they need to do to receive a settlement from an insurance company is to file a claim. The basis for the claim may be obvious-they were clearly injured and unable to work, there was damage to their personal property, or someone even died. How can the insurance company fail to pay a claim in such cases?

Despite the certainties that a claim ought to be paid, insurance companies are in the business of denying claims or paying the minimum settlement possible. You may find this out the hard way if you file the claim on your own and sign the insurance company’s documents without legal assistance. And you may discover that many settlements cannot be changed even if you hire a attorney to help you later.

If you are pursuing a wrongful death lawsuit against an individual or an entity that is not an insurance company, the process involves a formal legal proceeding that demands an astute attorney with substantial experience in this area.
