We established our law firm in April of 2009 after moving to New Mexico from Chicago, Illinois. We were searching for the right place to offer our innovative way of providing legal services, and saw New Mexico as the perfect fit for our more client focused approach to the practice of law. We have since become New Mexico's premier entertainment law firm, and the preferred New Mexico firm for business owners seeking solid legal advice for reasonable fees.
We are an Albuquerque, New Mexico based transactional law firm which focuses on representing business owners, entertainment industry professionals, and individuals with needs such as estate planning and bankruptcy. We are New Mexico's only true flat-flee law firm, offering our clients the ability to budget for their legal needs and know the total cost of representation up front.
Due to client-attorney confidentiality, we do not share information about prior cases.
215 Gold Ave SW
Albuquerque NM 87102
We offer free half-hour consultations.
We are New Mexico's only true flat fee billing law firm. Our clients are provided with a proposal for services up front, with a fixed price and clearly defined expectations for our work. This allows our clients to budget accordingly, and not have to live in fear of the next bill from their lawyer. In addition to the benefit of clearly defined legal costs, we find that this method leads to a much more open and productive relationship with our clients. When they know they will not be billed $50 for a ten minute phone conversation, they are much more likely to give us a call and update us on their situation.
We do not offer hourly rates, as we utilize a flat fee billing structure. The only exception to this is litigation.
Monday to Friday

As I mentioned above, I have a background in business and the arts. My wife is an actress and operates Sol Acting Academy here in Albuquerque, and I have been fully immersed in the film community for many years. I truly enjoy helping clients take their film projects from development to distribution. Similarly, I am an entrepreneur myself and love sharing my passion for business with my business clients. Estate planning is a natural extension of my business practice, and I derive a great deal of satisfaction helping individuals and business owners find comfort in knowing they have planned ahead for their future and that of their families.
It is important for clients to educate themselves before speaking with an attorney. When our clients come to our office with a basic understanding of their issues, we are able to get right to work on the more complicated matters, saving us time and our client's money.
We believe Nolo.com provides an excellent resource for our clients, allowing them to come to our office armed with information.
We will review documents prepared by clients on a case by case basis. When a client has experience in the area of law in which they are seeking advice, they are often well equipped to provide us with a document that is almost complete and just needs a review and revision from us. This works great for our practice and for our clients. For clients that have no experience or knowledge in the area they are seeking guidance, we find it is best that we draft the documents from scratch, as their document will likely need to be completely rewritten anyway. This saves us time, and our clients money.
We will reluctantly coach clients who wish to represent themselves, but only on a case by case basis. Pro se representation is becoming more and more common during the recent recession, and it is leading to clogged court dockets all over the country. Judges are becoming less and less sympathetic to pro se plaintiffs, and holding them to a standard much more similar to that which they hold attorneys. This means that the likelihood of success for a person representing him or herself is getting lower and lower. We always recommend someone hire an attorney unless they simply have no other option.
I earned my living as a professional saxophone player for a number of years and later worked in sales and business management in central Texas along with numerous entrepreneurial pursuits. I returned to school to earn my law degree to work directly with entertainment professionals and entrepreneurs.
My background is in the arts, which allows me to better communicate with my entertainment law clients. I understand that their focus is on artistic expression, and they just want to make sure the business and legal end is taken care of so they can focus on their art. Having started and successfully built a number of companies, my business clients also benefit from an attorney that understands their perspective. I know the bottom line drives decisions for business owners, which is why my law firm utilizes flat fee billing. I have lived, studied, and/or practiced law in Austin, Texas, Toronto, Ontario, Chicago, Illinois, Beijing and Shanghai, China, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. I bring this wide variety of experience and expertise to bear on my client's legal issues.
I have often been referred to as one of the most approachable lawyers in the state of New Mexico. Our practice is client focused, which means open communication with our clients is key for what we consider to be success. Our fee structure allows clients the freedom to call or email us without the worry of a bill for a short conversation or an email, and we find this leads to a much smoother interaction and quicker resolution to our clients' needs. My strengths are found in the balance between an affable approach to client communication and an aggressive approach to legal representation.Personal interests:
I am an avid reader and a history buff. You can also find me out hiking the many wonderful mountain and desert trails we have here in New Mexico on weekends throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Once football season rolls around, you will find me on my couch cheering on the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
