Chauncey Napoleon Barnwell was born and raised on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Attorney Barnwell emanates from a strong lineage from the Islands of the Low Country. His great-grandfather, Benjamin Walter White Sr. was a planter from Hilton Head Island who cultivated a wide range of vegetables and fruits.
Attorney Barnwell's grandfather Walter James Brown Sr. was born and reared on Daufuskie Island, South Carolina, but later migrated to Tybee Island, Georgia. Mr. Brown developed a highly successful contracting practice specializing in concrete and construction. Mr. Brown's works are still visited whereas many tourists each year marvel at the magnificence of the Light House on Tybee which Mr. Brown was commissioned to design.
Attorney Barnwell's grandmother, Rosalie White Barnwell was born in 1916 and was a student of the graduating class of Savannah State College in 1938. She instilled a strong spiritual foundation within Attorney Barnwell at a young age. Mrs. Barnwell taught school for 35 years and is still recognized as one the finest teachers to ever grace a classroom in Beaufort County, South Carolina.
Attorney Barnwell comes from a great lineage of entrepreneurs and educators and makes a point to continue upon the great legacy from which he is derived.
