Blumenauer Hackworth, P.A.
- Traffic Tickets
We specialize in providing personalized solutions to your criminal, traffic, family and small business legal needs in Central Florida. We pride ourselves on three things that set us apart from other firms.
First, we provide truly personalized legal services, when you call our office you speak to an attorney, not a paralegal or assistant. We offer payment plans and other payment arrangements because we realize the majority of people do not save large sums of money planning on getting arrested or divorced.
Secondly, we limit the number of cases we accept. When you call, you will not be asked for claim number, case number or case style like other large Tampa law firms. Clients do not come to us because we are on billboards or the backsphone booksooks. Clients come to us because we practice more than law. We build relationships.
Lastly, we offer legal services specifically tailored to your needs. We offer the convenience of concierge legal services to those whose legal issues are frequent and important. With Blumenauer Hackworth, you can have exclusive and immediate access to professional advice and focused legal attention.
Most importantly, if you ever feel we do not live up these ideals, you give me a call on my cell phone at (813)444-8630. We look forward to working with you.
How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?
Our passion is in representing people, not profits or powerful State interests. Representing people in their criminal, traffic and family law cases, gives us the opportunity to assist people through very difficult times and minimize the overall impact on their lives.
Our previous experiences with the criminal justice and military justice system demonstrated there is a significant need for quality representation, when folks are overcharged and falsely accused by the State and Federal Government.
What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others
Jeffrey Blumenauer's experience in the U.S. Army Reserves as a Defense Counsel and has additionally served as an Assistant Operations Officer (S-3) with the 154th Legal Operations Detachment (TDS) provides him with valuable experience and a unique approach to defending those falsely accused with crimes.
Jon Hackworth's time as an assistant public defender allowed him the opportunity to try over 25 criminal jury trials. He also had the opportunity to prepare criminal appeals and conduct one (1non juryry criminal contempt trial.
Additionally, our business experience allows us to take a uniqholisticstic approach to your criminal case, including assessing the potential impact on your business, insurance, etc.
What distinguishes your law firm from others?
We pride ourselves on several differences.
We constantly see individuals, who are represented by big Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater law firms that lack a personal touch, who would often appear in Court to find an attorney, they had never met before representing them or would call and have to work through a secretary or paralegal to speak to their attorney.
We also constantly saw situations where attorneys would attempt to dissuade or talk their clients out of going to trial on their criminal charges. We pride ourselves on our trial experience and if our client wants a trial, we will go to trial and force the Government to prove their charges.
We also regularly hear of individuals being turned away from quality legal representation because they are unable to come up with big retainers. We pride ourselvworkingorkign with individuals through payment plans and other financial arrangements to ensurreceiveecieve quality legal representation, regardless of your immediate financial situation.
We look forward to working with you and demonstrating our different, client centered approach to practicing criminal law.
Originally from Charleston, West Virginia, I attended West Virginia Wesleyan College studying both business administration and political science. After three semesters at West Virginia Wesleyan College, I transferred to West Virginia University, where I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in Multi-Disciplinary Studies. While attending West Virginia University, I worked with my father as a surface miner in the coal fields of West Virginia.
Subsequently, I attended Stetson University College of Law and graduated in May 2010. I was also a Florida Bar Public Service Fellow. I completed my public service related internship with the Office of the Hillsborough County Public Defender. I also completed a Certified Legal Internship with the Miami-Dade State Attorney working in both the Gang Unit and Domestic Violence Unit. This gave me the unique perspective of seeing how cases are both prosecuted and defended. During my third year at Stetson, I completed an internship with the United States Attorney's Office in Tampa, Florida. While at Stetson University College of Law, I had the opportunity to work as a research and teaching assistant for Terry MacCarthy, former Federal Public Defender of Northern Illinois, and author of MacCarthy on Cross Examination.
After being admitted to the Florida Bar, I accepted a position with the Office of the Pinellas County Public Defender. I tried over twenty-five jury trials and one non-jury trial. I had the opportunity to represent over one thousand criminal defendants. While an assistant public defender, I attended Public Defender College, a program intended to develop and maintain advocacy skills for assistant public defenders across Florida. Working as a public defender gave me the skills necessary to handle your criminal case system from arraignment to disposition hearings to pretrial hearings to jury trial to appeals.
After leaving the Public Defender's Office, I was offered a position with Cole, Scott & Kissane, on of the largest insurance defense firms in Florida. While with Cole, Scott & Kissane, my practice focused on property insurance litigation, personal injury and wrongful death suits. While at Cole, Scott & Kissane, I began to quickly realize my real passion lay in representing real people, homeowners, and those accused of crimes.
When we started Blumenauer Hackworth, I wanted to return to the type of practice that inspired me to become an attorney, the kind of practice that valued people and understood that behind every case was a family and a story. Coming from a big firm, I wanted to get back to the basics. I wanted to get back to the client centered approach of law, where our litigation strategy focuses on your needs, not the other way around.
