He graduated from North Carolina A&T State University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. Jocquese L. Blackwell worked for Motorola Corp as a Chemical Engineer in the Physical Sciences Research Laboratories and developed micro-chips for testing of animal blood cells. After law school, Jocquese L. Blackwell obtained a highly coveted federal clerkship under the Honorable Raner C. Collins in Tucson, AZ.
