Firm Overview

The Zarcone Law Firm opened its doors in 2010. However, I have been an attorney in San Diego since 1997 and have worked for some of the city's most prestigious firms. Our firm's focus is on service to the client and the client's needs.

Our firm is focused on providing our clients quality representation and service. We understand that a matter such as bankruptcy or a collection case is very trying. Our clients always deal with an attorney, never sales people or intake clerks like at bankruptcy mills that are only interested in making a sale and keeping their volume of cases up. The Zarcone Law Firm represents the clients and their interests first.

Example cases

I have dealt with numerous bankruptcy cases, many that involved complex issues beyond the normal consumer case. One Chapter 11 case involved the sale of nearly 40 restaurants throughout California. Another case dealt with highly technical intellectual property issues and I took the case all the way through appeal. Another bankruptcy involved a major manufacturing concern, located in San Diego, with plants throughout the United States. I had to travel to as far away as Iowa City in the middle of winter to administer the estates assets on behalf of the trustee.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

I enjoy the financial aspect of the bankruptcy practice. Furthermore, I enjoy the ability to help people that have fallen on hard times get back on sound financial footing and move forward.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Clients should make every effort to educate themselves on legal issues. First, the client has a direct interest in the outcome of their matter, so they should be aware of the issues and complexities of a legal case. Second, a better educated client is likely to be of more assistance to an attorney. For instance, one client may be in possession of a document that he or she feels has no bearing on their case. A better educated client may see or understand issues related to that same document, present it to their attorney and explain why that document is relevant to their case.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

It is an obligation to review documents prepared by clients. At the outset, the client often has a better understanding of the facts and circumstances involved and a review of that knowledge may be imperative to understanding the case accurately.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I'm willing to steer clients in the right direction regarding representation. However, an attorney has to be cautious since they have no control over a person who represents themselves. An attorney cannot be sure the person would follow the advice correctly, prepare the correct documents, etc. and then have the blame fall back on the attorney.

Alex Zarcone

Previously, I worked for Oliva & Associates, as well as Higgs, Fletcher & Mack, one of San Diego's most venerable firms having opened its doors in 1939.

My mom passed away when I was 20 years old after battling cancer for 5 years. That event made me realize that life is short and even in the business world; you have to provide your clients the best service possible. You can't treat your clients like a number because that is not what they are paying for. They are paying for your knowledge, your expertise, and your ability to find a way out of a bad situation.

I care about my clients and do not treat a client like just "another case." There are no sales people here, each client deals directly with me. I deal with your case on an expedited basis because people want their financial situation to be dealt with as quickly as possible.
